Well chris, My mother-in-law dog will be joining molly soon. Found out last saturday that he has lypoemtia (spelling) so he has been given 4 to 6 weeks to live, and hes becoming blind. He has had a wonderful 9 years to live. He was my wife's dog but had to give him to her mom when she moved to an apt that didnt allow dogs. I feel bad for him because he was the one who gave final approval on me being able to marry my wife. He has chased every boyfriend and growled at them when they came to her house. But he loved on me when i came to ask her mom for permission.

I'm very sorry to hear about Molly, Chris. I absolutely love dogs, and I am so glad that most folks here on TW do! She was certainly a popular girl around here.

    RIP Molly...

Aw Chris. I know what you mean. Connar, Duncan, and James are all "mine" (or as my husband says on occasion, "my fault"), so I'm always the one hit hardest. I bawled randomly for months after I lost both of my boys, and I still do even after the years have past for Mikey (2006) and Eddie has only been a year this past November. We never forget the ones we've lost, but we love the ones we have too.
I wrote a poem for Tri-State (and they put it up on the website! Ack!) with a line that refers to both the rescues that got adopted and the dogs that didn't make it:

"We each have the stories of the ones that we miss/The ones that we lost, but sent off with a kiss"

It counts for anyone who has ever lost a beloved pet.

Chris I am so sorry to hear about this. I know loosing a dog can be very hard to go through. Just remember that she was very lucky to have you, as you were lucky to have her.
I love this poem, it helped get me through having to put down my first dog, I was lucky enough to have him for 18 years. I hope it helps you too.

    The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
    Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

    -- Unknown

If you would be interested, I am pretty good at scrapbooking and I would love to make you a scrapbook to remember her by if you would like to mail me pictures of her with some details about them. PM me if you are interested ((hugs))

That is an amazing poem. It makes me think of my Golden Retriever. His name is Jake and he's almost 12. He's still healthy, but I know within the next few years the time will come to let him go.
