Come on down here to Texas. Opening weekend at the local track is next weekend. Just happen to still have 4 28"x10"x16" cheater slicks from the Supra and some taco steel wheels. That's a pair for each of us.

    Well,

    A) That's a drive, solid pass lol
    B) Truck is in San Diego getting LT installed all around, so it's down for another month lol
    C) Currently on 34's and stock gears, so I can't really give anyone a run for their money right now, but when I had stock size tires, it was no contest to most trucks on the road lol. Will be regearing to 4.56 before the end of the year, then it's on again :D

    D) Come on up to Cali :D

Excuses excuses.... I'm game now... All I gotta do is drop the slicks and wheels off at the tire shop. Lol

And yeah I'll pass on the drive to Cali. Only 2 things are gonna get me in that state (read no offense) the Hammers and the Rubicon.

I actually don't know? Never seen an NA vs NA race. But technically it should because it's got like 40 more HP. But then again, 2nd gens have more low end torque so should get in to the power band sooner than 3rd gens, so I honestly don't know lol.

They really don't. The 3rd gen manual puts 275 ft lbs at the flywheel at 2700 rpm. When launching you can keep the rpms above 2k and launch directly into this engines power band. This data is from redbusket's 16 manual. His truck's max torque was 236ft lbs and 232 hp (measured at wheels). Because of the 4.30 rear diff you can treat our trucks like they have 282 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel. In other words, fastest stock taco ever made, by a lot.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Sorry, bad wording. I basically mean i expect the new one to be only a tiny bit faster than the old NA truck. And considerably slower tha a supercharged one.

    I believe its this

    2nd NA
    236 hp - 266 tq

    2nd supercharged
    304 hp - 330 tq

    3rd NA
    275 hp - 265 tq

The real variable is gearing. How much does the the higher hp and more rpm plus 4.30 differ from my 330tq with 3.73.

    Except maths says 330>282

And 282? If it only makes 265 its only making 255. The gearing may help, but it doesn't change that.

I would expect a 3rd gen NA to be faster than a 2nd gen NA. Manual for manual. Same driver.

That is a nice flat curve though! Impressive really.

    Still like the 4.0 better.

Dispacement is like tits. Sure you can have very nice C cups, and the will get the job done.

I disagree. D cups on a midsize may look good when they are fresh off the lot but by 100,000 miles are looking a little tired and by 200,000 are ready for a rebuild. The Cs? Still going strong....

Why debate about the new truck being faster than a SC 15? It probably isn't. If they come out with a SC for the 3rd gen, it probably will be.

All I know is my truck can merge like a sumbish if I dump the beans on it. And putt around town like an old man's caddy if I don't.

200k is a long way in. No rebuild tolerance anyway, trash it and upgrade.

The c was worn out at 59k, some rods knocking in the block and had to replace her.
