I went to my local dealer for the 5,000 mile maintenance service Monday. As I was waiting I looked around their lot and found a Red 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6 4X4 almost identical to mine. Theirs had chrome running boards and no tow package. Mine has tow package but no running boards so it's a wash. Mine has 900 less miles also.

They are asking $2,495 more for their used one than I gave for my brand new one.

And they wonder why I drove 540 miles to not buy from them.

It has Nav. That's got to count for something.

Honestly someone is stupid to pay that much for that truck. You can get the same truck brand new for that price. It's not even a crew cab. More than likely likely whoever traded it in either hated it or had issues with it. Maybe he was one of the few that decided to get into a higher model. I'd rather have a brand new one that I know I broke in myself

    People will pay it.
I've seen used second gens with 15-20k miles for sale higher than the original sticker price of the vehicle new.

Resale will go down once more people start dumping their autos back into the used market. It's already happening.

Dealers can ask for a certain dollar amount, Don't mean they will get it.

That`s not resale value, it`s just a car lot throwing a big number out there hoping that some dummy will bite.

The same thing happened when I was getting my wife s 4Runner. They had a 15 sr5 4x4 with 35k miles. They still wanted $33k for it. We bought a new 16sr5 4x4 with the 3rd row for $35k. I even told them I would buy it at$27k and they wouldn't budge on it.

Some threads on here about engine problems. Just think how much they're going to ask for a 3rd gen traded in on a Tundra

Naw, they are just hoping that when they get an offer of $1000 less than asking and take it, that the buyer will think he is getting a good deal and be happy.

All of the used 2016s in my area, granted there aren't many, are all priced pretty much exactly the same as a brand new one.

I don't visit the third gen section often, but when I do Blue T seems to be shitting all over it.
