The wiring fits perfect in the channels for the weather stripping on the windshield

You can strap a canoe to the rack with no problem at all. On the other hand, I do utilize Yakima bars for extra width so I can strap 2 of them side by side.image.jpg

I am looking to order the cabrac in the next couple of days, but I am a little confused on the install instructions. Is there two options either to cut out or punch through like you did? I like your set up and look the best so far that I've seen.

    Do the punch.

I got in a hurry and a couple of my holes were off .03-.1", but the rubber or whatever it is seems to have conformed to my holes over the past few weeks.

I understand the directions, but the weather stripping part. Either cutting it or using a 3/4 bit and drilling the hole for the spacer. Can anyone clear this up for me a little and explain a little more in depth? I'm sure it's simple, but I'm clueless

Get the punch kit identified at the bottom of this page from Amazon (see below "products discussed in this thread"). Grab a piece of plywood and a good hammer. Use 3/4 punch and hammer to punch the holes through the weather stripping in the appropriate locations. There are plenty of places in here on an the "to-do" thread that show you how to measure for the right places to punch. I wouldn't bother with cutting or using a drill bit. The bit will likely get caught and be a pain, and the punch is too easy and clean to bother with cutting IMO.

Sent our another email, the communications with Zach get ridiculous at times. No word for over almost a month on the rack I ordered on the GB in February. I need the rack by June 15th. Ordering in February was more than enough time even with the Paypal fuck up.

nice, i'd keep it a solid one piece that the cross bar slides through. Then add the through holes for the bolts to provide the clamping force via T-Nuts.

that's a great idea! unfortunately, how it will be sitting, I wont be able to get the cross bar and lightbar in there as one piece.

My brain might be fried all ready for the day... I think i should have said a one piece design instead of solid. i interpreted your design being two pieces. it looks like it would be bolted together from the two screws in the back. one piece design would add an additional small amount of security.

I would assume you can remove the crossbar and wind reflector (for accessibility). Loosely bolt the light bar to the mounts, slide the crossbar through the mounts, add T-Nuts and reattach the crossbar. Make your final adjustments as necessary with the wind reflector attached.

I like where you are headed with this either way.
