Need help getting my serpentine belt back on

2006 supercharged 4.0 Toyota tacoma sport 4x4,

I have no clue on how to get the belt around the two pulleys that are attached to the belt tensioner. One of the pulleys im having problems with is to the left of the tensioner.
There is no way to slip the belt around the front or the back of the pulley.

I just dont get it. Any suggestions or diagrams for me?

I went to the auto zone site and didnt get anywhere there.

I'm in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Anyone one want some free beer or liquor?

 

I know for a fact that something has to come off to get this belt on and Im mostly wondering what needs to come off to get this thing on the pulley or the entire bracket that holds the tensioner.

Ill be calling toyota in the morning.

Nobody has changed a serpentine belt before on this paticular model with a SC. The dealer wasnt any help.

It's not clear to me if you need help with the routing or just can't get the belt over the pulleys.

In either case, I feel your pain! I recently replaced the serpentine belt in our Matrix and had both problems.

First (and I know this is too late for you) take a picture of the belt before removing it so you can see how it is routed. It may not be at all obvious how it goes when you are trying to put it back on. (I got lucky and found a diagram that showed routing. Hopefully the attachment that Chris provided does this for you.)

Second, look for some way to attach a wrench to the belt tensioner so you can lever it to provide slack. There may be a hole for a 1/2" drive or some kind of hex you can put a socket on. The Matrix had the latter and I used a 1/2" socket with a 24" breaker bar. That was very helpful.

Third, I kept having trouble with the belt slipping off other pulleys as I was trying to get all of it in place. I finally wound up tying it to various pulleys with some string as I got it routed so that by the time I got to the last one, all of the rest were still in place. This was particularly useful on the Matrix as some could only be reached from underneath and others from the top.
