I will wait till it dies (estimate between 250,000 - 300,000) then i'll bring it back to life and go for another round. The truck will be paid off in the spring, which is good because I have 154k on it already. When I need to rebuild the motor I will definately have some fun with it though. I don't much care for turning it into a trail rig only. I like something that I can drive on the road but is still off-road-capable.
Maybe I can be one of those lucky people who have over half a million mile on their original motor. I put 50k a year on it so I should be there in another 7 years.

You know I think I will keep my truck for a long time. I have a few more years of payments so for now I am treating her pretty nice. Over the next few years I plan on making her a true trail/expedition machine with proper armour, shocks, and what not. Then I can really start to abuse it. :mudding: As of now it is my DD, and I can't afford to abuse her too much.

Just remember, AWD ain't 4WD...see here:

    http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/awd.html

Every time I hear subie owners talk about how well they do off road I laugh. Subies are awesome on the street, but people shouldn't expect them to have capabilities of a true 4x4.

As for the future of my truck, my build link is in my sig and the mod list is in there. I essentially plan to keep it until it dies - I'm shooting for 500,000+ miles.

I had planned on keeping my 2000 for ever, until it failed the frame rot inspection and is getting bought back by Toyota. 143K on it. Still a baby, really. It never really ran well in the cold though - knocked like a MF for the first 2 minutes or so when started below 30º F. Brought it into dealers, no one ever could figure out why (even used Toyota™ oil filters and tried full synthetic oil). Like others have mentioned, I much prefer the 1st gen looks / size to the new ones, but the Tacoma is still the best option out there for a non-full-size truck and so I'm about to pick up a 2010 Access Cab V6 6-spd SR5 w/ tow package. I had my first Taco 9.5 years and 143K miles, hopefully the new one will see 10 - 12 years and 200K miles :)

You're gonna need a serious lift to fit bigger tires on that...
