I just installed the Icon 3 AAL along with MaxTrac Spindles, 5100's and OME 883s. Up front I'm at 5" above stock. In the rear, I kept the overload and used a 1" block and I'm level.

I was wondering that as well when I added the AAL to mine. I read a bit on here about pinion angles, but no one ever mentions that it's an issue. So in the end, I just experimented with leaving the stock ones out, and I have no issues. It would be good to know the height that pinion angle becomes a factor, though.

You will not get that with a 3 leaf AAL.

You will get about a 1/2" from the stock overload. I got a little over 2.75" using the AAL, stock overload, and 1" block.

Overload only adds the actual thickness of that leaf, about 1/2 inch.

I had that setup with the overload in and got 2 inches as expected. But when I put my shell on, I lost 3/4 inch immediately because of that extra weight.

It's a 1.5" lift (2" with overload) on a stock truck. When you add weight, especially directly over the leafs, you will lose lift height. More weight = less lift.

You definitely won't get 2" with a shell, even a lightweight shell. At least with my experience with the same setup.

So right now the rear is probably an inch higher than the front, I put in my coilovers set at 2 inches, I get 2 inches from the aal, then lose let's say an inch when I get a shell. Worst case scenario the truck sits perfectly level with a shell on it. Hopefully. I'll probably be getting a whole new leaf pack within the next year.

That's about right. Mine was leveled.

Only time it sucked was when I actually needed to put a few hundred pounds in the bed, then it drug it's ass across the road like a dog on the carpet.

Driving at night was awful, because my headlights just blew everyone else up in oncoming traffic with any weight in the back.

    Here's a pic.

That's only a half inch nose high, FWIW, and my low beams.

Now I have full OME with Dakar pack and love it. Stock rake.

If you want the Hieght of the overload without the stiffness you can cut your overload spring into a block and get the Hieght without the stiffness

Hmmm well I'll just give the stock overload a try for a while. If I don't like it I'll cut the overload down

All that'll do is give a 1/2 in height and something like 30% less strength in the leaf pack IIRC.

I'd leave it in and upgrade the pack later, like you planned.

I could be confusing the 30% weaker figure with the Dakar pack with removed overload.

Either way you'll diminish the capability which seems completely counterproductive for someone with a shell.
