With your assessment that u joints shouldn't be filled with grease, what is your thoughts on this video from Spicer recommending otherwise?

Sorry, I'm not able to view the video right now, but I'll check it out later.

My suspicions about the bearings would require spending the time to contact the bearing manufacturer and see what they use in them. I wouldn't be surprised that it may be something based with molybdenum disulfide, although could just be standard lithium, and doesn't require it to be packed full of grease.

When the bearings are serviced at their recommended interval the technician will fill the bearing with grease until the old grease is seen coming out evenly on all sides. That is done for two reasons, 1) old lube pushed out, 2) indicates if there is a problem with the bearing if it doesn't come out all sides evenly. Still, the bearing probably doesn't require being packed completely full to function just fine.

I'll check out your video later though :)

This truck has been absolutely fantastic. At 5K miles and zero problems. Consumer reports review way off the mark. Noisy interior? You've got to be kidding! It's a truck...not a Camry, not an Accord! Give me a break!

I have owned somewhere around 14 trucks in the last 26 years and this is the best most enjoyable truck I have driven.

My U-Joints needed some grease, the U Bolts were not up to specs. Took the truck in last Friday to have the diffs and trans. checked. I watched...They were all fine. Saturday morning I made up a thermos of coffee, got some gas and sno-balls and took off for a 100 mile drive. Ain't life sweeeeet!!

Just wanted to chime in that I love my truck too. It's one of the best vehicles I've ever driven, much less owned. Just throwing it out there for those who are waiting and having doubts about it. For reference, this truck replaced a 2005 Z71 quad cab that was loaded. Before that, I had a 1997 Chevy C1500, and prior to that a 1990 Toyota 4x4 V6 pickup that was bought new and driven 200K miles.

I got the TRD OffRoad with 6 speed manual. Look forward to 250K miles of awesome. Here's a shot of it from my 3rd floor office window yesterday. I couldn't stop staring at it.

Haha. That's why I clarified it was a 3rd floor window from about 100yards away. It was zoomed in.

Bored at work. OK. Cancellations on all warranties were 5000. Wife was with me and pressured me into that. Had my old Mazda b30000 for 16 years. Never had a warranty on anything. So 2WD out the door with step bars and bed cover. 33000. Looked at 4WD here in Florida and asking 39000. Don't need a 4WD. Big improvement for me since the rice burner was a dog. Now paid off. Finally got all my cancellations money back after 6 months.
