5 inch tuff country lift, adjustable bilsten 5100's. Toyo MT's on 16' wheels. Magma flow muffler. Viper alarm/auto start. Moog sway bar links, tie rod ends and lower control arm bushings.
Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong on my truck? I have replaced everything in the front end other than my upper control arm bushings.
What's happening is when I hit drive way approaches or large potholes I feel in the floorboard a hard and I mean hard slamming. I replace the front struts and have them compressed on my original springs from dunks performance they sold me 5100 bills teams that are adjustable I had those professionally installed. After that the slamming seem to be worse so I took it to Les Schwab, and they told me that my lower control arm bushings needed replaced. So I replaced the lower control arm bushing's with Moog and outer tie rod's with Moog, as well as new swaybar links. My ball joints are tied my cam adjustment bolts are tight everything is been torqued I just got an alignment done on the vehicle today the guy at hunter alignment told me that the Toyota mud terrain being that they are 10 ply is way too much for the front end of the Toyota and that is what I'm feeling (slamming) and that the bilsten 5100s combined with those tires is just too much and it's creating a super stiff ride. Please help

E rated tires don't help but if you have your adjustable bilstien's set to have the spring all the way compressed at 2.5" I'm guessing that's your rough ride issue. What's your tire pressure at?

I just had the struts set at what the shop said to put them at. With my lift you just get stock length replacement struts. So they said to have them set at the lowest notch . I'll go take a pressure check right now . Sorry I'm new to this I don't know how to post a picture from my I phone

OK ya the 5100 bilstien's have three settings 0", 1.25", and 2.5". The lowest being 0" of coarse. So if you are set on that setting them the shocks and coils I don't think are your issue. Good luck I'm sure someone on here can give you some more ideas.

All looks good. I have had this truck at 3 shops and it's driving me nuts. It feels like it's bottoming out right as you go into the hole or let's say you want to drive up on a curb hard.

truck calls for 26psi in tires. Noticed you have a db lift but its missing the bump stop relocators. That means your gona bottom out the shock harshly because the bumps dont touch anything.

Sorry I'm not understanding. I bought the truck with the gay lift on it. I have been just trying to fix its problems. I had the 5100's ordered from dunks performance out of Springdield Oregon and they said they are ok. I paid to have them installed as well. Thanks for your help.

you see the rubber bumps on the lower control arm? look how they have nothing to hit because everything is dropped down 5". Those are supposed to hit before the shock bottoms out.

Ok. So when the bump stop hits won't I feel that just as hard as a shock bottoming out? The l the tuff country lift is the kind where a spacer goes above the strut.

Yeah good catch! OP that could definitely be the issue and youre feeling your nice new 5100's bottoming hard. Another idea, years ago back when i was still sporting a pickup (pre tacoma) i had a loose body mount bolt and it felt like it was a suspension thing. Drove me bonkers for weeks, just like you. Finally figured it out, tightened that damn bolt a couple turns and issue vanished! Prolly not the issue but keep it in mind...

what sounds harsher. the suspension progressively stopping on a rubber pad. or abruptly hitting metal on metal.

not saying 100% that this is your problem but at factory ride height there really isnt that much uptravel so its quite possible if your hitting the pot holes pretty good.

you probably already know but that lift isnt just a spacer on the top of the strut. It moves the entire front suspension down with the brackets that your lower control arms are on.

Coil springs could be toast as well. I fought my front end for a long time and finally ditched the TRD progressive rate springs and all was well afterwards. Much better ride quality and handling.

The springs are oem and have 203,000 on them. But I'm all new to this and shops just want to keep selling me stuff
