Just live in the outer bay areas. It'll be like living in Riverside just to commute to work in downtown LA I know a lot of guys who do that.

I know a guy that is an iron worker in San Jose on a 3 year job. They put him in a shared apartment rent free cuz his work is in LA. Good ol per diem. I'd do that gig. So much money you can save
