    Anyhoo, I'm done with this shit fest here, before mods step in and end it for us.

    Op, your question was answered, multiple in line filters would be pretty worthless unless you use the step down process with several. So I'd say, change your filter whenever you feel it needs it, because you're probably fine for 5 times that amount lol.

    Old thread I know, but for what it's worth, my 2016 is in a pretty costly case due to sand intrusion into the fuel tank. We're still not sure how and got in there, but that's a whole other issue.

    The sand/particulate matter got past that in tank "filter" sock thing, and trashed the injection system. I now am facing a 14k dollar repair bill... not covered by warranty. The truck has 5206 miles.


    I stumbled across this thread looking for aftermarket add-on filter systems. For us in the newer rigs that don't have an external filter, Id recommend getting one.

    Are you in the desert? I'm very curious how that could get into the tank. Maybe vented in? And after having a pump and injectors taken out by water in pump fuel, I am all for having an extra filter protection on a fuel system and is the main reason I always used my transfer tank to fuel up my diesel after that horrendous bill.

    An extra filter wont protect you from water in the fuel.

    Some filters are water separators as well.




    No, I as at pismo. There was a little water exposure as well, and the vehicle officially died in a carwash the next day.

    Still not sure how it got in, but I have a few ideas. Not 100% sure.

    I have 2 filters. Found that with the fuel cell i get more crap in my tank than I would have with stock set up so there is a filter before my external pierburg fuel pump then still have the stock one as well.

    Ive definitely found that for my case that first filter stops a lot of gunk the other doesnt and needs changing more frequently than the stock one would have. Filter was chosen by the in/out fitting sizes but is much much larger than a stock filter is. Cross referencing the model its most commonly used on Porsche and other high powered engines. Also its 1000x times easier to access and change that stock filter.
