Thanks boss, I wanted to run music on my deep cycle battery with my truck off and my starter battery isolated. It's not the most impressive sound but gets the job done while i'm camping or washing the truck outside. Found those marine speakers on sale from customsounds for 50 bucks! Got the amp off of craigslist used for under a 100.

If you want it to sound a bit better, enclose the backs of each speaker, even with one of those 8" round black plastic gardening pots. They will benefit by having some sort of enclosure.

Thank you for the tip boss. The speakers are 6 1/2 inch. I think I saw some PVC piping at home depot that size. Ill work on that this weekend. I would really like this to sound better.:fingerscrossed:

You want an enclosure, tight, no air leaks. I was saying those garden pots because they're dirt cheap if not free and easy to work with. Some Gorilla tape to cover the drain holes, and pure silicone to fasten the rim of the pot to the metal of the toolbox. Much better way to go would be a wooden box about 8" square, again silicone to the metal and all inside seams siliconed. The idea is to create a sealed enclosure for the bass range of the speaker to have back pressure... With open backs like that, no speaker will ever sound nearly as good as one with an enclosure.

Yup, I fully expected to have problems with that thing from all the horror stories but wanted it anyway cuz they're fun as hell. Whaddya know, 245000 miles and never had to do a damn thing to it (aside from normal maintenance) other than put a new radiator in. I sold it then because I thought I was pushing my luck with that many miles, best bail while I could. Put it on CL and had 8 calls within 15 minutes, sold it two hours later. Shoulda asked for more.
