I'm building a 7.5 upper for my SBR (waiting on stamp, expect I got it before the end of the month....sent the corrections for it out on Monday) I'm putting a full brake on there for the sole purpose of being "that asshole" at the range...for use when I get someone being an ass with an AR pistol. Mine will normally have an 8.2" .300 blackout barrel on it with a can

The only reason I might put a brake on mine is for a suppressor.
I keep mine as a truck/HD gun, don't want to make it too loud.

for 6.8 I check Selway Ammo, Plametto State Armory and LAX Ammo. They all have good sales on S&B 110 FMJ and Federal XM68GD.

    I'll check it out, thanks.

    Ok, thanks.
I like the XM68GD ammo, it functions in my rifle and it's pretty budget friendly.

My friend wants to trade me a LMT upper with Daniel deference carrier group for my Springfield XD subcompact . He said his upper is new. Is it a decent upper ? I don't know much about AR-15's. I have a complete spikes tactical lower and all I need is an upper .

Daniel Defense is a good brand, and I believe LMT is good also.
It's up to you, is the upper set up like you would like?

    What length barrel is that?
    And what scope mount?
    And what hand rail?

Quality wise you would be doing very well on that upper. Those are both very gtg brands. So now go do your homework - what is a Springfield XD sub $ worth and what is the upper $ worth? What condition is the XD in since the upper is new? Go from there. GL.

Anybody have any thoughts or experiences on the Vortex Optics Spitfire Prism Sight? My build is almost done and now it's time to start thinking about optics. I'm thinking something that's magnified would be my best option.

I am also considering the Holosun HS510C for the large field of view that it offeres.

The spitfire is pretty cool, and other than the ACOG it would be hard to find a more compact magnified optic. The reticle works ok with 55 grain rounds, zero at 100M and the 500M holdover is close enough with a 16" bbl. I don't know about the holosun, but personally I've found 1x red dots to be minute of dude accurate at 50 meters and pretty well worthless past that. Neat for pistols and shotguns, not much use on a rifle at any rifle distances. I sold my last Eotech for $100. My favorite AR scope is the Leupold Mark AR 3x9, but I also don't do the three gun thing and mostly shoot from 100-300M with occasional 500M shots. The big question to ask yourself is how you are really going to use the rifle and at what range, and get an optic that does best for those ranges in your price range.
