Someone backed into me

dealership gave me an estimate of $900. Thinking of just getting a plate bumper.

 

Isn't that whole front end plastic? Have you tried just popping it back into place? Or are the supports bent?

 

Anyone have experience dealing with those cheap insurance companies that only provide minimum coverage?

 

For the bumper, they're bent and the housing light clips are above the bumper. Also there is some paint crinkling.

 

Off road bumper or go home.

 

Gotta buy a suspension first actually. The stock OR suspension is pretty meh.

 

I find it hard to believe it s only $900.

 

It's a customer pay estimate but i was surprised it was that low as well. Was hoping i can pocket the money instead lol. But at $900, I'm thinking of just letting them do the repairs...who knows, they might take the bumper off and find other broken items.

 

Plate bumper, SAS and 40's youll be set to go bub! lol

 

Dang! Sorry dude, I know I'd be pissed. But yeah, off road bumper would def deter that type of stupidity...Just saying

Sorry man!!! That fuckin blows. Hope their insurance covers it. State minimum liability coverage should easily cover this as long as the offenders are carrying insurance legally. Did you get their insurance info?

His insurace is one of those cheap ones but he has $10k coverage so I'm hoping all is good

 

Take their insurance check and buy a cool aftermarket bumper for it! Better yet tell them if they pay out of pocket buy you the bumper, you wont report it to their insurance. Give them a short timeline and make sure you file a police report so you have it on record.

 

Can i still file a police report after the incident? He's my neighbor so I didn't feel the need to. I have all his info.

And yes, I'm trying to pocket the money, but I'm eyeing the bp51 shocks lol.

 

Yeah, thats fine. If it's someone you know and trust you'll probably be OK. You can call and file the police report over the phone. Not a big deal just good for insurance purposes if you decide to or have to go that route. Hate to call insurance on a friend or neighbor unless they're sketchy assholes then I would for sure. Cover your ass you know. Just call local PD and ask them about filling out a report.

I did suceed at this once. But i threatened the insurance company with retaining legal counsel - they issued a check right away after I signed a waiver for injuries and property damage.

 

This was a qoute from the collision department at the dealership. I'm not going to settle for 900. The bumper has damaged paint and the light housing clip is damaged. It's mainly a bunch of clips and supports that are bent and broken.
