So I've asked around a little....I'm hoping not to switch the fuel pump if I don't have to. I'm hoping to do a 2.85 pulley at some point. I heard I don't have to, I've heard i probably should...just for insurance, and I've heard probably not but itl depend on your specific mods in addition to the s/c.

    My truck:
S/C, AFE pro dry cai, URD y-pipe along with URD Mark lll exhaust.....so 3" from the manifolds all the way back.

I'm hoping to do the 2.85 and not switch the fuel pump.

    Opinions please.

For the guys that have done this 2.85 pulley mod, have you noticed any difference in fuel economy (pedal stomping aside)?

If you have the charger and don't do the smaller pulley swap...I truly don't know wtf you're waiting for. EASILY worth every penny.

A little bit. Not gonna lie. I don't really ever track fuel mileage but I can tell it has gone down slightly. Not enough to be concerned but still down needless to say.

Mileage slipped a little bit, but the goddamn whirl of the charger is goddamn addicting. Putting in the URD y pipe and thorley shorty headers next weekend. I've read that helps a little bit. I won't lie... I'd love to get a little better mileage, but the truck has transformed so much that I don't even sweat the lesser mileage. It's not markedly worse, but it's not as good as it was. Be honest though, the mileage on these trucks sucks to start with. Adding a charger made it slip a bit and then the smaller pulley had it slip a little more. The miles are so much more enjoyable idgaf about losing a small bit of mileage. Bedsides, if you want better mileage you can drive slower

Yeah, mileage concerns might seem a bit frivolous, all things considered, but I've actually enjoyed pretty good fuel economy and rather like that. Trying to have my cake and eat it too, I suppose. Power is an aphrodisiac though!

Is everyone pretty happy with the URD install tool? I've seen mixed reviews. I've wondered if many people are using a more stout "professional" tool for the installs.

Left foot becomes so much more tempting after the pulley install it is difficult to draw an even comparison.

For what it is worth, it gets the job done sufficiently at a reasonable cost. I would use it again. Just be sure the threads are threaded evenly into both the supercharger and tool on the install so you avoid the disaster that I had.

Did the install today with the help of your instructions. Went on very easily! The toaster oven trick I bet made the difference as we did not struggle much with getting it pressed back on. We did have an issue getting the all thread that the install tool comes with as it did not want to thread into the input shaft. Turns out the threads in the shaft were really corroded after 4 years of being on the truck and had to be cleaned with a thread chaser first. Thanks for the handy guide!

Followed urd instructions and put the smaller pulley on today. Did 2 test runs with the stock pulley to make sure my ducks were in row. The install was super easy. Pulley pushed on super easy. Really wakes truck up. If you follow the directions provided I can't imagine having any trouble what so ever. The urd install tool looks like it's evolved over the years. The directions provided show pictures of what I assume is the older design. The new one has needle bearings and a smaller head on the end of it (1/2 inch). The bad reviews I've seen regarding it are old reviews so maybe that was for a different design. 20160611_193830.jpg

They must have changed the design over a year ago, Mine looks exactly the same and I installed last year. Suuuuper easy installation, I really don't understand how people have issues with it. If you follow the instructions and have an extra set of hands its a cinch!

Do the pump. The stock pump struggles to keep proper volume up under high rpm's even in NA form. Personally, I would do it. You don't want lack of volume issues under high RPM's which will starve you of fuel and could be detrimental to the engine under boost.

The key in obtaining the best fuel economy, is to make it so there is an absolute maximum reduction in pumping losses i.e. be nice to the gas pedal. This applies true to even NA. The more often that you lay into it and take your engine out of vaccuum, the more fuel consumption goes up. These blowers are designed to be in vaccuum under cruising load. Keep it as such and the difference between the 3.0 and the 2.85 pulley will be nil fuel economy wise.

I like to make things extra challenging for myself. I figured the install was too easy, that is why I grenaded my install tool into the engine bay mid install, just to make it more challenging.

I like where your head's at. For extra hard mode, sprinkle some metal shavings on your snout before install.
