Its been along time since I smoked weed.....Over 20 years....I think......Anyway. I dont think it should be leagal. Last time I smoked it, I thought I was pretty safe. Just hangin by the pool, in a pounge chair, when the fucking thing took off. WITH ME ON IT! Being as I never piloted a lounge chair, I was completly out of my element. I was holding on for dear life, and after about 20 mins. of circling the pool in this thing, I/it landed. I never got high again......

    Legalize it!
I don't smoke, but why waste time trying to enforce this law.

The cops can enforce the parking laws more, and make more money for the cities..:D

There are a number of old laws that should just be removed

X2- When I was young I had a couple of friends that grew up in homes that were beseiged with alchoholic parents & their lives were hell . beatings & other violence, "There's only 2 kinds of drunks , good ones & bad ones." Unfortunantly most are bad ones ( I drink , fortunantly I'm a good one, laugh ,get silly, sleepy, pass out) To those who say pot is a gateway drug to harder drugs is a bit of a stereotype, people that use other, harder drugs are more than likely predisposed to abuse ANYTHING they ingest, & marijuana HAS MEDICAL VALUE !! I know this first hand from when my Dad was dying from cancer the THC pills they gave him brought some relief & increased his appetite......:rasta:

The stuff that is out there right now is an inch away from Opium - Is everyone wanting to legalize Heroin? The stuff that Chris smoked was just an example of how powerful it is today. It isn't like the stuff that I smoked 50 years ago ;) that you had to smoke a few joints to catch a mild buzz.

One other reason why there is a large force against the decriminalization it is the amount of gov funding (money) and confiscation (money)... a form of tax that has little resistance.

The biggest reason I think that it will never be legalized is that the government makes too much money from prohibition! Think about how many "special" government agencies there are just for disposing of marijuana, the DEA for instance would need 1/3 of the resources they currently have, also the border patrol wouldn't need 1/3 the resources they use right now. Its a big make work project 100,000's of people are involved in keeping prohibition alive and well, and I'm not talking about the growers or anything like that. Not to mention the prison system with 1000's of inmates locked up for minor possession.

The idea that todays pot is any stronger then it was in the 70's is totally bullshit. To think that it is "an inch away from opium" is completely insane. There is a totally different reaction in the brain from opium, it blocks nerve receptors. Marijuana can not possibly be as powerful or have the same effect as opium, they are totally different plants, which have totally different chemical compositions, and do completely different things in the body. You need to realize your government has been brainwashing you for 50+ years to believe marijuana is an evil, terrible plant that kills people. The reality is in the 1000's of years of documented use of marijuana all over the world, there have been 0 deaths! People die every day from opium overdose.

I am not buying the statements in your first paragraph. The DEA and the border patrol are stretched so thin that taking officers off pot duty, and putting them on real drug duty would do a lot for the world. Let them concentrate on the coke, meth, heroin, shit that really screws people up.

In response to your second paragraph, I do believe pot is a lot stronger than it was in the 70's. Of course it is, I bet 90% of the weed sold in the 70's was Mexican schwag. You think in the 70's they had the type of indoor/outdoor grow operations they do now with forced CO2, lighting apperatus, hybrid qualities, and what not...if they did it was not available to the general public like it is now, or was it as perfected as it is now. As far as one step from opium...that is crazy.

What? No it isn't. You smoked 50 years ago, you must still be high? Inch away from Opium, do you really believe your own bs?

My old man said the same thing, its not like the stuff i used to smoke. Meh, first time i smoked i got high, now i can do a few joints to my head, and still bang out my thesis, or do the GF. If i stopped burning, and picked up a joint 50 years later, i would get high, and say the same thing.

Its a seed, its a plant. Nothing much as changed, only better means of growing. More powerful lights, we know what were doing now. Not stronger, just better crops, like corn, tomatoes and any other thing we grow.

I am talking on first hand experience, on all counts.

Inch away from opium, hahahahaa, sounds like something i expect to hear from a redneck on FOX news. (you know the entire world makes fun of you, right FOX?)

I know plenty of 18 year olds who aren't responsible enough to drink. I also know plenty of 21 year olds who aren't responsible enough to drink.

Regarding marijuana? I really don't know. I think legalizing it would only create more problems. Sure there are the people who smoke it in good measures in their own homes for pleasure (or medical reasons), but there are way more people out who just smoke it because "it's cool" or "everyone else is doing it" and they can't handle themselves and do stupid shit. Making it more readily available? I think not.

Derekabraham, I think you bring up a good point. It may create a lot of problems for us, sure it may add some much needed tax revenue. But at what cost to our citizens and our countries future?

the 21 yr old drinking age has more to do with health reasons.

the human brain doesnt stop developing until 25. It slows around 21...hense the 21 drinking age not being changed any time soon.

I have quit smoking, but I used to, and I loved it. When I retire all I am going to do is get high. Legal or not, I don't really care. I can get it either way.

faulty assumption, typically the statist 'frees' things up by demanding more regulation.....they will make it legal, but they'll tax/regulate the HELL out of it. The best way to go about getting it legalized is to vote for a Constitutionalist....to quote one of our founders: ''The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.''
