Fuelly's giving me better mileage, but I realized it varies. Might vary due to not having decimals on the odo

Finally getting some decent MPG's IMO, have just under 3000 mi. Mix of 75% city & 25% highway I've been getting 17.3-17.7 the last 4 fill ups. That's way better than the 15.6-16.3 I was getting earlier. Not sure why but I'm happy with it.

I was getting lower than expected fuel economy. I let my brother (who drives like a granny) drive my truck on a 35 mile run and he averaged 22 mpg. I was getting less than 17 mpg. For a test to see how high I could go, I quit using the cruise and tried very hard to not let the RPMs go above 2000. The old egg on the gas pedal trick. I put 100 miles on yesterday and according to the computer averaged 22.9 mpg. I saw it at 23.1 but when it dropped back into the 22s when I had to pass a slow moving group of cars.

IMHO, the cruise does not save fuel, it saves you from having to closely watch the speedometer. The truck does get thirsty if you drive anywhere close to enthusiastically or aggressively. Next test is to see if I can replicate the good fuel economy with ETC switched on. I'm thinking no way but we'll see.

Yeah but unless you're over 85, its not really natural to drive that way. The stress and anxiety you cause yourself by playing "the fuel economy game" will gray your hair faster than having a 16 year old daughter with double D's

Not really natural? Stress and anxiety?

I week ago I managed 23 mpg and was very conservative on how I drove. I recently got a new position at another company and the roads are less wavy unlike I-35 south to Austin. Last tank was 21.5. I'm also at 6600 miles now. Good enough, it's a truck.

If anything like my Tundras were, truck should start settling into its true fuel economy between 12,000 and 15,000 miles.

Yes obsessive compulsive driving with respect to feathering the accelerator, rolling to a stop, driving under the speed limit causing people to zip around you, changing lanes abruptly and shooting the gap all so you can squeeze a couple of MPGs out of your gas tank.
To drive like an 85 year old man? No.

Feathering the accelerator, nope 2/3-3/4 throttle while shifting quickly at 2000 rpm, not really slower than most. Feathering is doing it wrong.

Rolling to a stop, nope just not racing to the next red light.

Driving under the speed limit, I'm usually not alone, and I'm passing Trucks going even slower, I see speeders zipping around everyone and tailgating and passing on the right all the time, yeah I'm the bad guy going 55 in a 55, and 60 in a 65. I'm only in the passing lane when I pass, and if I'm going to slow down the pack I speed it up briefly.

Changing lanes abruptly and shooting the gap? Don't do that.

Yeah people do that when you drive like a senile old fart. Look don't take my word for it. Normal driving is going to net you 18 to 19mpg max. Look to fuelly

    2016 Tacoma - 4WD - 4 Cylinder - Automatic - roughly 1200 miles on it.
It's a "dog" in our PA hills so I don't baby it at all. I tromp on it often. My mileage run was to Pittsburgh and back to NW corner of PA.
Checked mileage the old fashion way (gallons/miles/calculator) - got 22 mpg.

Meh, I don't do the hyper mile non-sense and am usually around 21-22. Normal is relative I guess.

I get poor mileage in the city ~13-14 mpg (Seattle stop-n-go). While highway driving I get approximately 22-24 mpg. My last two tanks have averaged out to be 20.2 and 19.5 (about 50/50 city/hwy). DCLBOR w/ 3000 miles.

    Stock and loving it
I am now driving my truck to and from work most days. The trip is 8.5 miles. Starts with a quarter mile steep hill, then 5 mile hilly freeway drive, then 3 miles down a busy one and two lane street to my work. I'm getting 18 average but it's a slow street crawl from the freeway to my work
