Hey guys hope you can help me out. I have a 2016 DCLB TRD offroad arriving in a week. I purchased a 2016 OME 2 inch lift in the medium load. I want to get the 255/80/17 Cooper STT MAXX's with method NV wheels. Prior to the lift can they fit? After the lift should I have any issues with it being a 2 inch lift?

Wish I could be of more help, but I have a 1st gen Tacoma. From what I've read, later gens have a bit easier time fitting larger tires with less rubbing, but I would imagine you may have some fender liner/mud flaps to modify/remove. Also depends on the wheel backspacing. I'll let another 3rd gen guy help you out with the specifics. Good luck!

Thank you, regarding backspacing and offset what does 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing mean? The guy that is installing my lift said to try and get 0 offset and I think under 5 backspacing.

Here is a good article explaining offset, backspacing, and the difference between the two. http://www.autoanything.com/wheels-rims/wheel-offset-vs-wheel-backspacing

To reduce rubbing on the frame, inner fender, UCA's, etc, it is often helpful to get wheels with a lower offset/less backspacing to push the tire outward. You don't want to push it so far that it becomes and issue while turning (ie, rubbing on the outer fender/flare, body mounts, etc), however. Also, the further the wheel center is pushed away from the hub, the higher leverage it has on the hub/bearing/ball joints (increased wear, higher chance of breakage). But with all that said, as long as you don't go crazy with it there's nothing wrong with pushing the tires out a bit.

Also, here's a visual calculator that I've found helpful in the past: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

Here are the wheels I am looking at. O offset and 4.5 backspace. Good or bad?

If you plug the numbers in for your current wheels/tires, and what you're moving up to, it gives you all the approx amounts things will move.

With factory 265/70R16 with 7" wheels and a +30 offset, going to a 255/80R17 with 8.5" wheels and a 0 offset should push your tires out roughly an inch from where they are now. Seems to me Method offered the NW in a -10 offset as well. That'd push things out about 1.5".

These are all estimates. Some of this stuff is trial an error, especially with new truck models. Look for other 3rd gen owners that are runner 255's and see what they're running for wheels.

So, my MT V6 I typically average about 18.5mpg, and on long trips I stick between 70-75mph and see around 21.5mpg. This has been pretty consistent, and now I'm at 6700 miles (racking them up!). I am planning to get new tires before this winter, maybe sooner, but because of the snow we have here I definitely want them before winter. It is a must that the tires I get are rated for snow, so something like the Wildpeak A/T3w, BFG KO2, or Duratrac are what I'm considering. I've settled on 265/75r16, so with the Wildpeak I can get a P rated that is around 43lbs, the Duratrac is a C rated around 45lbs, and the KO2 is an E rated around 53lbs. If I were to ignore the gas mileage and harder ride (I live in SE MI, the worst roads in all of USA) the KO2 would get my vote. I know how good they are in the snow, and they have great highway manners. However, since I do a 30 mile commute to work (so 60 mi round trip), it's hard for me to ignore gas mileage hit ... but, just to confirm my suspicions, if I decided to go with the KO2, would I be looking at a 1-1.5mpg hit, or would it be worse?

Hard to say. depends alot on your driving style. Look at my Fuelly sig if you want real world number for the Duratract on the identical truck in 265/75r16. I drive like a normal person 75% of the time, but I am not afraid to wind it up to 3500+ the rest of the time. My fuelly mileage is based off of 80% highway and 20% small town driving. YMMV. I would think with E rated you would take a bigger hit.

Also note in my fuelly numbers this is pavement numbers for my truck. I have not added my offroad trips or my few trips towing. These trips were all around 13-17 MPG depending on terrain/distance/speed.

Does that mean a 255/85/16 on a stock OR wheel will fit on a stock suspension OR?

I ran a 255/80-17 for a while. They'll rub unless you drive 100% highway. Even then it'll be close

Darn, I guess I'll stick with 265/75/16's then, don't want to lift the truck for an extra inch of Tire lol

I figured it should be OK since stock is 265/70/16, but would have been nice to go up to a 33" instead of a 32"
