Stock Headlight Plug

So Im putting in my stock bulbs for this weekend while I go to Arizona.I have HID's. The stock bulb has that plug IIRC that when I unplugged it, it has this yellow substance on it. Now that it's been off for a while, do I need to buy some more of that stuff and smear it on there?

If nobody knows what Im talking about I can take pictures in a few hours. Thanks.

 

its that dielectric grease I believe.. I wouldn't bother unless you have some in the shed.

 

So I can just clean the dirt off and plug it in? Or should I go to Autozone(If they sell it) and be safe and buy some?

 

It just helps prevent corosion between the prongs of the plug and plug assembly. I wouldnt lose any sleep over not re-greasing it.

 

X2. When I used to have my stock bulbs I swapped them out with Sylvania Silverstars...then some Phillips bulbs...etc...never had an issue.

 

Its no big deal to not put any more on there. It is dielectric grease as someone already mentioned. When you get back, the one side that connects to the HIDs, I would pick some up and put a little on that connection just to make sure you don't get any corrosion in there. You can get dielectric grease at any auto parts store for a few bucks as most.

 

Hey quick question JD? Why dont you just keep in your HID's for the trip?

Last time I went to Arizona I got pulled over twice for my lights. I have the 50w. Im just going to play it safe.

 

Ohhhhh...thats right. Certain states have different laws. Yeah I forgot about that. If I ever drive back home to California, I better remember to take mine out too!!

 

I havent had a problem here in CA. I have sat right behind cops with my heads and fogs shining right into his face and they never do anything. They are just bright thats all.

One time I was pulling into a neighborhood in Oceanside and I parked and got out. The neighbors were like "Dude! We thought you were a spaceship landing or something!" hahahaha

Yeah I thought the law in CA was if they didnt come with HID's, then you cant install them afterwards. Or something like that.

 

I heard anything above 5000k is illegal or something like that. But I dont really care.

 

Yea I have never been hassled. I havent ran a front license plate either and never got pulled over. Same with tint. And if I do get a fix a ticket, I know a local Sargeant
