Hiya Ryan! Cranking out them sliders? From one self-taught welder to an other: why is it that I can run a beautiful bead on the back of something that will never be seen, but when there's a weld that will be front and center of what I'm building it looks like a cat turd?

Hahaha cranking out a bunch of stuff. Lot of smaller items right now. Hahaha I would just say make sure your material is clean, make sure that your gaps you are welding are nice and tight, make sure that your torch tip is clean and nothing is blocking the gas causing the welds to come out porous. Because of my "shmellmopwho fab" it has given me a lot of practice, so I know it sounds cliche but practice practice practice. Try different techniques till you find the one that you like. I semi recently started trying to push instead of pull any chance I can cuz my weld comes out looking better.

Yeah I've been getting a lot of practice too. I'll show you what I've been up to next time I see you.:spy: Pushing does give nicer welds. The puddle collects in the joint better. I finally managed to get my round welds around a tube in two sections. I was doing them in three to four before. Ran out of gas mid-project recently and was looking at my roll of flux core. I decided to wait and get a new tank the next day instead of compromising. I wasn't really in a rush anyway.

Right on dude! I'm stoked to see. Push is way better than pull. Even though sometimes, the position you're in controls which way you go. Haha yeah, welding around tube is a different ball game than straight welds haha. Screw flux core lol. Good choice to just go and get gas!
