That's good to hear. I always hear stories of people being denied service due to aftermarket parts being installed, but I guess this is different since it's a safety recall.

Yeah no problems here with aftermarket shocks or an AAL. They just won't reinstall the AAL. Left it in the bed for me to deal with.

A little update.. I brought my truck in for inspection about 2.5 weeks ago, and today the dealership finally called and told me that the parts are in.. They've had the install kit on-hand for quite some time now, but the leaf pack just came in today, so I scheduled myself for tomorrow (friday) 9am for the install..

Not that I'm stoked about the recall leafs, but I can at least get this recall done so that I can finally throw my lift kit and wheels on the truck.. :goingcrazy:

Had mine done today at work. My truck had the 3-leaf pack, and the replacements have 4. I'm glad I waited to get this done, so now I can order my lift, wheels, and tires!

had mines done friday morning.. it took them about 3hrs to finish the truck..

i noticed that the rear of the truck felt a bit more firm (in a good way).. it's not jarring, but noticeably more firm.. the truck felt more planted/stable on the highway when hitting dips and potholes at 65-70mph.. the rear doesn't seem to bounce around as much.. i can honestly say that it felt better compared to my old 2+1 leaf pack, which had 53k miles..

yesterday (saturday), my brother and I decided to install my lift kit. I was anticipating a very bumpy/bouncy ride (equivalent to a lowered car), but it felt really nice.. it's noticeably more firm than my stock setup (TRD sport yellow bilsteins), however, the firmness of the lift kit blows the stock suspension out of the water.. the truck rides great over bumps, potholes, and dips.. i noticed that the truck doesn't "nose dive" when i hit the brakes hard.. the truck also sways less when taking turns at a faster speed.. lastly, i'm lovin' the look of the lift..

i'm currently running on my stock trd sport wheels wrapped in 265/65/17's.. i have my new wheels and tires in the garage ready to be mounted onto the truck, but I'll be cruising around with the stock wheels for a few days while i wait for the new suspension to settle in a bit.. then, ill throw the new wheels on and get the truck aligned..

overall, the recall leafs + my lift kit turned out better than i thought, as far as ride quality goes..:thumbsup:

Got a call from the service manager at my local dealership today. My rear leaf springs are in and I scheduled the install for Friday morning. He told me it should only take an hour to an hour and a half but based on what I've read in this thread I'm expecting 2-3 hours at a minimum. I didn't ask about an alignment but I will when I drop the truck off on Friday. And like others have said, I'm not really that excited about the new springs (although I'm pleased to be going from a non TSB 2+1 leaf pack to a 3+1 leaf pack), I'm more excited that I can finally install my new tires and the lift kit I've been sitting on for months now!

I got my "Remedy" letter from Toyota today about the rear leafs, so I called my local dealership to make an appointment. The lady I talked to had to go and check twice, but she claims nobody knows anything about it!!! Has this happened to anyone else? WTF!?? How in the hell does that even happen? I got the original notice, like, 6 months ago or something. And they know nothing? Really?? Anyway, she took my number and said she'd call me when they get word or whatever. Jesus Pleaseus.

This is the same dealership that slapped on that frame undercoating on top of the rust that was already there, and a year later half of it had flaked right off again.

I'm really annoyed. I was "included" in the recall, but my springs "passed inspection" by the dealership which means I get jack-diddly-squat. What kind of BS recall doesn't fix a potential problem just because it hasn't happened YET! What's even more frustrating is I never knew about the TSB to get the 4-leafs so I still just have the 3-leafs. Anybody have any tips how I might be able to weasel the dealership to get new springs, even though I already got inspected?

I got all the letters and called them to set up a replacement. I have the TSB leaf pack and they said they have to inspect them, maybe not replace them. I am happy with the TSB leaf's so I am just going to blow it off. PITA to drive over to the dealer and wait around while they inspect my springs that look fine currently.

The only remedy to fix the stock springs is ditch them and get a real set of leafs, hence "OME Dakar's"!!!

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
So think guys that got frame replaced got new leaf springs and Toyota considers that a remedy. My leaf springs turns out to be super soft. So I guess is back to crazy axle wrap.
