Removing the grill was really easy... the entire grill assembly comes out with the two 10mm bolts on the top and the two pins next to the headlights. The assembly then pulls right out. Then there are 8 screws holding the trim and grill to the assembly, after removing the screws, you go around the edges and release the clips, separating the trim and the grill... took about 15 minutes to get it all apart, much easier than taping and masking the whole front end, my opinion. I put on 5 coats of black and one of glossifier.

Great post Korn. I've been looking for a thread on how to do this. This now gives me confidence to dip my grille as well!

Can anyone tell me how the dipped grill stands up to bugs/cleaning bugs? I am in New Hampshire and my truck gets blasted with bugs.

Here's mine! Need to redo the badges I think....will redo later.

I took my grill off and completely apart as well, super easy!

5 or so coats with glossamer.

Hey j_inciong and daway: Does the "bug deflector" really keep the bugs off the windshield? Lotsa bugs out here in SE TX on the open road. Something like this may be useful if it really works.

Not too sure, I mainly got it to help against rocks and stuff from chipping the hood. It is pretty low profile on the 3rd gens so I'm honestly not too sure how well they work for deflecting bugs.

Who makes that bull bar? Does it interfere with the skid plate? It looks great.

Steelcraft. The steelcraft application website says remove skid plate if equipped, but I didn't and it doesn't seem to be in the way.

Wow great looking truck! Seeing this makes me even more anxious to get my DCLB. What are you running for suspension and tire size? That looks super sharp!

Joeydel, I took the front skid plates off and painted the same color as the truck. It makes the front end pop. Plus not spending the money for a custom plates to boot.

3 inch leveling kit with 285 70 17 cooper discovery sst pros. I had to put 1.25 spacers on front and rear to keep from rubbing. Thanks for the thumbs up
