Best reflection shot I could get this week.

 

Sweet! I was getting worried, thought I was going to be the only entry.

 

Looking good fellas! Any other reflection shots to be entered for this week's challenge?

Here's mine from yesterday (not eligible, obviously):

 

Reflection. Definition: a thought, idea, or opinion formed or a remark made as a result of meditation. I am reflecting on the recent series between the Warriors and Blazers.

 

So I didn't have much to work with this week and thought of this Yesterday.

Thanks @JoeTacoma02 for doing that for me. Been a little busy this morning.

 

Busy at work today too. I hope to get some down time during lunch to critique and choose a winner. Good turnout this week, guys!

Alright, my critique (such as it is -- I'm learning right along with all of you!) and winner for this week!

@JoeTacoma02 - Very nice. Good composition with the portrait orientation, which works very well as it leads my eye right to the focal point. Good exposure and the focus is spot on -- really like the blurred focus on the front edge of the shot which also serves to lead my eye to the pins. Overall, the colors are great as well.

@BabyTaco - I had to go try this at home and see if I could get it to balance! Love the off-kilter feel that the balanced can provides, and the reflection is strong! The colors pop very well and it is exposed nicely. I might have opted for a bit more depth of field to keep the reflection a bit more in focus, but that might just be me, and I see where you were headed with a more shallow DOF to keep the can as the solid focal point.

@DEEVON911 - I had to go back and check JoeTacoma's shot to see if you were at the same facility! Pretty awesome we got two bowling alley shots -- that never even occurred to me to look for a reflection there, so nice job! I like the wide view this photo takes and having your son (guessing, yes?) in the foreground just gives it a little more personality. The reflection is minimal, but it's there! Might have been possible to sneak up behind and shoot portrait orientation at more of his level which would have brought out the reflection a bit more. Easy to armchair quarterback these types of moments, I know.

@Don5352 - Haha, excellent take on reflection. And you're not wrong -- it's definitely in the dictionary. Love the white vignette, it just sets off the whole composition for me. Well posed -- all of the story elements are easy to grasp, from the newspaper headline, to the facial expression.

@2big4arunner - Bonus points for anything with a Tacoma in the shot definitely! I like this -- strong reflection and aesthetically-pleasing backdrop. I only wish the white dock railing wasn't there -- just not enough contrast or depth separating it from the white truck. Moving to camera-left might have provided enough space to visually separate the dock from the truck. Again, easy to armchair quarterback this and it may not have been physically possible to move left!

Nice shots, everyone! Loved seeing how many different ways we can interpret a simple prompt.

Congrats @BabyTaco and yeah, my 4yo @davidpick . My bowling shot was purely coincidental. LOL. And having my 4yo stand still long enough for a decent photo is like a miracle.

Congratulations @BabyTaco and thanks for the feedback @davidpick ! Hand held, wide open, slower than what I'm comfortable with shutter speed and I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out.

Hope I am able to pick up my camera and join on this weeks challenge.
