Thanks guys. Pretty sure it's an 01 thing cause from the looking I've done, all other years have one. Probably make a trip to the junkyard sometime this week to see if I can find one before getting one online. Now how does one remove that piece of trim? Assuming just clips?

Thank you. Figured it was behind there but didnt want to risk breaking the clips without really knowing. Will be doing this very soon with a phone "mount" out of the bottom bolt like some of the 2nd gens. Thanks guys appreciate it.

You should order the bearing and seals from an online Toyota dealer then pull the spindle and take it to a machine shop. Should be able to get it all done for @ $350 or less

Could you handle changing out the entire spindle? I have a parts truck with the entire spindle just taking up space. I don't know what shipping would be, but you could have my extra spindle $20+shipping. Basically letting me make some beer money for removal.

Are you talking about the RAM mount? If yes, it doesn't work very good with our first gens. I've been trying to get mine to work, not having any luck yet.

I think it might work better without the grab handle. The way the ball sits beyond the handle doesn't let the clamp rotate the phone holder far enough from the wheel. If we had ginormously deep dashes like the second gen Tacoma's and Tundras have, It would work great.

I'm not giving up, just a matter of finding the correct combination of parts.

I might try that out. I'll delete my handle and see what happens. I wonder if the '98 style handles would work better. The later model years had a more bulkier handle.

I think I may have one of those on my parts truck.

Let me know what you find. I dont have the grab handle now but am going to add it. Little hard to get in it with it being a little taller now so I can do without the phone holder. But it would be nice since I lost two cup holders to the crawl box and twin sticks.
