Funny how some salesmen like to give out the temp vin and some keep it a secret. Some of the guys that post here can look them up at the dealerships they work for.

 

How do you decipher this?

the 21 is the build date week 21 is
Week 21 May 23, 2016 May 29, 2016
earliest build would be the 23rd latest the 29th. My original build date was 4/22 they moved it to 4/28 which turned out to be the actual date. so I'm guessing yours will be May 23rd

 

Ah- my last 8 are GM23B676 so that is build date week 23, or June 6-June 12.
Makes sense- that's about when he said it would be built. Tack on 3 weeks to get to Montana- early July.

 

Ok, salesman was right on, can't trust them enough he told me 23rd hopefully get it on my birthday the 29th or

mine was built 4/28 hit dealership wed night picked up 5/12 so 14 days from build to pickup. time to delivery is heavility dependant on how long it spends in the port getting options installed after the actual build. Tonneau's lights running boards etc. Mine had almost no options just tow package.

 

Holidays may push the date back. mine got pushed back because of the flooding in Texas the week mine was produced. They have been working Saturdays for months trying to catch up on production. they grossly underestimated the demand.

 

I've kinda resigned myself it could be end of July. The demand has been incredible!

I got a call from the dealer this afternoon, my truck is unloading and will be ready for pickup this evening so I am going out to get it tonight! Yeah baby..

Finally after just over 5 months my wait is finally over. Best part, after having the truck, is not having the "Hey, didn't you order a Tacoma? Well where is it?" conversation anymore.
Now that I have it I can definitely say it was well worth the wait. To everybody still waiting, give it time, it will come... eventually.

So my DCSB Sport M/T was built on April 28th, delivered to my dealer on the May 13th, I signed the paperwork on May 14th. Overall, not a bad wait for it, approx. a month or so. Inspected it yesterday to make sure that it had everything I wanted and nothing that I didn't. Just waiting now for the dealer to deliver it since MA doesn't issue temp. tags and it needs to be titled and registered in RI. I hate how complicated everything has to be here in the northeast for what should be a simple transaction. But at least the truck is real and I have seen it with my own eyes. Made all the frustration melt away along with all my money being spent on mods for it.

 

I just picked mind up on Friday....four weeks after I ordered it from the dealer! So far I love it!

Dealer called yesterday to tell me my truck came in after 5 months waiting! About 20 minutes later got another call saying JK computer was wrong its in fact not here yet. Still waiting.

Hey Guys, just found this thread...ordered my MGM AC TRD Sport a few weeks ago (4/30), with a build date of 5/24, delivery 3-12 days out from build date... so I'm thinking the week of the 23rd or 30th. This will be my first automatic transmission ever... What has the typical delay timing from build to delivery been? Sorry haven't been able to sort through this 141 page thread yet.

My temp VIN says 5 for America plant, that being stated, what is the best way to get my real VIN? That's probably been answered 10 times on this thread...apologies. I am really psyched as this 2016 replaces my purchased new (first new vehicle) 2002 Gen 1 Taco Mystic Silver AC TRD OR SR5 5 speed manual, that replaced my 1988 Toyota pickup (read Hilux when we didn't know that is what is was), killer grey and customized into a 4 runner and lifted by the previous owner friend. Anyway, the 2002 just turned 14 and I spent a few hours today scrubbing her clean for some potential buyers.

 

Well, my buddy at the dealership called me. It has been built and it will be here before months end.
