Count me in on the manual fan club, I'll never drive anything else. I just like the extra connection and control you get when driving with a manual.

Smart people get manuals, I think not, lazy people get auto's.

Manual transmission owners... I feel are among the 3% of the nation that will not go quietly.

If you drive an automatic and are reading this YOU are what is wrong with America!
The automatic transmission is the damnnation of the greatest nation in the world.

Meh, my prerunner was an Auto and I like it just fine, to me the manual definitely feels like it pulls harder, mainly because I can shift it at higher rpms, I don't think I ever remember shifting at the rev limiter on my auto and that was with pedal mashed to the floor. Hills and traffic I miss it, but 95% of the time I prefer my 6 speed over my auto. That and MPGs are better in the auto if you keep your foot out of it. Then again I'm supercharged with oversize tires, so I dont worry too much about MPGs

Thanks for the information. I for some reason thought the clutch and brakes were tied together controlling off-road situations in atrac. I thought it was odd and could cause odd circumstances down the road. My mind likes to theorize...

The fact the DCLB long bed is not offered with a manual is a crime against humanity.

I wonder if anyone ever retro-fit a manual to a gen 2 DCLB. I've seen crazier aftermarket fabrications.

I don't understand why we just can't bring them in from Canada. For God's sake it's not like we are importing a left hand drive car with no safety belts from Srilanka. It was made in the US for God's sake, it only is 24" longer.

@RedBeard1 can we drop a manual tranny into a DCLB OR? Seems like it could work fairly easily since it's the same motor?

We don't get a m/t LB up here either, in fact the only way for us to even get a short bed at all is by getting m/t

I think the easier route would be to extend the DCSB and swap the bed. The would alleviate swapping the drivetrain and dealing with whatever electronic nightmare is involved with going from CC/MTS to A-TRAC. After all, I assume of course, that we aren't discussing pie in the sky throwing money into trucks and in the end you're imagining a Sport, right? Anyway, while in our imagination we're adding length to the frame it doesn't seem like it would be too much extra trouble to just box that fucker in at the same time too.

Youd have to extend the frame as well and extend the driveshaft

Obviously. I also left out brake lines and wiring, but I thought that was all pretty obvious.

Drive shaft length and possibly crossmember location is all I can see different. Hell they built second gens in the DCLB TRD OR flavor with a manual trans. Don't know why they can't still. I know of 2 second gens locally that are DCLB 4x4 6mt.

Easiest thing to do is wait till there is an access cab totaled out and back half your existing truck at the transition plates on the frame.

Second gens weren't available with an M/T or the off road package in DCLB config.
