Grille's wrong for an MGA. Body's wrong for an MG-TD...

I think it might be a mid-50's Jaguar XK.

Edit- After some research I think it's a pre-55 from how the fog/driving lights are positioned. Maybe a '53 or '54?

Please tell me you bought this!! That is a rare find, especially what looks like to be in good shape. I would love to have that.

Yes. He started this back in the mid/late 80's. Took him about 10 years to get it done doing mostly everything except paint an body work. I have lots of childhood memories of me and him tinkering with it. This thing has been up and down the east coast and out as far as Ohio (he lives in Northeast Jersey).

I do have pictures of me somewhere at his age with that same car. Back then it was just a chassis and motor.

    Awesome.

My uncle started his a couple decades earlier and it frequented shows here until he passed away, and was featured in the newspaper here back in the 70s.

Used to be royal blue with a raccoon tail and a painting of Blue Boy on the deck lid.

    image.jpg

Then he had it painted this metallic color (from GM) sometime in the 90s.

    image.jpg

He found it as a burned up, shot up original 32 5 window body and brought it back in his garage. Loved to go fast too, it had a blown 350 SBC.

Clutch work in the '40. Ain't nothing going to drop out easy of this old girl, especially considering what's in it, and the, ummm, unique work done over the years. I didn't have much frame of reference.

    Screen Shot 2.jpg

Start with a "slightly" modified 1940 Ford Tudor Standard, pull off the front wheels.

    Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 6.55.42 PM.jpg

Pull the fenders, aw heck, just go ahead and pull the whole front clip. I think there were more bolts in the Taco's fender flares. Like, one of 'em.

Now, stare at it and come up with a plan.

    Screen Shot 20.jpg

Hoist ain't gonna fit in there either. Pull the hood.

    Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 7.16.20 PM.jpg

    Cute.

    Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 7.18.01 PM.jpg

You haven't seen *that* motor before. Not the usual small block Ford or Chevy. A real item, back in its day. Well, it still is now. Any guesses?

One of the original Hemis (well, they called 'em Fire Power back then...)

1957 DeSoto Adventurer Fire Flite Eight with a Chet Herbert roller race cam and dual 4 bbl Carters. I was going to get to that when I get around to posting more pics, but, the cat's out of the bag...

Gotta love those old suspensions. Transverse leaf pack and a... well, I don't exactly know what that shock mount is called. Needless to say, with that set up, 4 wheel drums, and manual steering, you need to plan your turns a couple days in advance.

Stud. Barely even dirty. 5 minutes under the hood of the Taco and I look like a victim of an oil rig disaster.
