Figure this is probably the best place to ask... how easy are the "green" trails up there? Are we talking something that a 2x4 with appropriate tires could handle? Like are there trails the 4x4 guys can run without kicking on the 4WD?

Thinking about maybe taking my 2016 SR out there someday, but I'm a 2WD guy. I doubt I'll do much more than good tires and maybe some underbody protection- the gen 3's are already pretty high up stock.
Not trying to turn my taco into a mall crawler posermobile, but I would like to blow off some steam and get it filthy.

The main green trails would, for the most part be 2wd friendly. That being said, you would need someone very familiar with the park to take you out, because it sometimes depends on which direction you go on the trail whether you would make it in 2wd. You also have to factor in the lack of low range as well. I can see having fun up there in 2wd, but obviously not as much as the rest of us. Just make sure you have tow points on both ends.

Well put. I'd say the greens are pretty tame & stock friendly but you definitely want to be in a position to be rescued just in case you take a poor line.

Thanks for the responses guys! It sounds about like I expected. I'll think about giving it a go once I get tires (I was considering a set of BFG KO2s for year round- rain snow and shine) and get a little more comfortable with my new truck.

It's also about a 2hr drive for me, so I'd have to make a day of it.

Groups wise, I know there's the 2 car minimum for entry- if I decided to show up as part of your big group would someone be required to babysit my lame ass at all times? :ballchain:
I wouldn't want to be that wet blanket on someone's fun.

The last post about the skids have me nervous now. I'm just over 2" in lift with 265/75/16's. I really want to try and make the take over in July. Full skids or really just upgrade the front to be safe enough to have fun?

IMO the most important skids to have are the IFS and Transfer case. They are the most exposed. But truthfully you can do almost any green and not worry about hitting these. I ran my first trip at RC with only tires like you, no lift, no armor, open/open. The only trails I got nervous on were actually blues. Skids and sliders become more important when you move up to blues, and it's more for peace of mind than anything else. My list of armor generally always goes sliders then ifs skid then t case skid, then trans skid as far as order of importance.

I've got sliders and I can lock the rear so I'm not completely behind haha
Started looking at skids last night. Maybe I can squeeze some money and time together and get them sooner than later.

Mine is Aug 1st. Looking to treat my self to my first trip

Agree. Sliders, skids, good rubber & you are set to wheel many trails at Rausch.

Thanks to @Cyberman and @Urineovrurhead for babysitting my first time out. Didn't take too many pics or videos since I spent most of my time wondering if my truck was going to make it over the next obstacle. Awesome first time out, definitely hooked.
