We were at "Lone Star Toyota Jamboree" from open to close. We did really well; we climbed "Jeep eater", finished all the 2 Diamond trails and pine hill run.

What I learned on the first trail was that my 2010 Tacoma is not a TRD Off-road like the sticker says. It's an SR5 4x4, no lockers, no power inverter and none of the other options that a TRD would come with. I'm going to pull the vin number today and find out what it is. Anyone know where I can do that online?

No offense but you're just realizing that now? How long have you had the truck?

I could be wrong, but I think there are some 2WDs that come with a TRD suspension, and get the badge? I know a guy with a 2WD Tundra that has a TRD OR badge. It's very misleading.

I believe he knows what he doesn't have.
No rear-locker so it can't be a TRD Off-Road, not a Sport originally and it has Limited 4Runner wheels.
As long as you didn't pay a premium for the TRD package, enjoy your 4WD SR5!

You can get both trucks in TRD OR without 4WD. The Tundra OR comes with a rear LSD and the Tacoma comes with a rear locker. Along with a TRD sport offered in the Tacoma (another 2WD option), they all feature Bilstein 4600s. All the other features are redundant imo, besides maybe the TRD sport hood.

Perhaps the previous owner of OPs truck put 4600s on his truck and felt obliged, or purely for cosmetics, I'm not sure. If I kept the stock axle and wanted to make a pre-runner, I'd get a 2WD TRD OR Tundra with the 5.7, the LSD isn't magic but it helps. I'd ditch the 4600s anyway, throw em on Craigslist for $300 and upgrade to at least Bilstein 5100s. But that's for another thread.

Sorry to hear about your luck, OP. Could honestly axle swap a legit TRD OR axle and wire the e-locker if you want. I'd rather do that then crack open diffs and pretend I know what I'm doing throwing a locker in.

I put the 4Runner wheels on it last year. It had stock steel low end wheels when I got it.

I didn't know it didn't have those things. Been to busy with work to pay attention to all the little things it should have a I am just now meeting other Tacoma owners. 99a8557288654139e0a26c717001b8f8_c8668d1a8dfe9c4f0bd876b6615784739f6388e2.jpg

Oh okay the way I read what typed made it seem like you knew it didn't have the rear locker, bed outlet, TRD shocks, etc.
So the simplest thing is if you don't have a button above your left knee that reads "RR DIFF LOCK", then you do not have a true TRD-Offroad. Like someone above me said, it is very common for the decals to be added for appearance.
    Regardless, enjoy your truck.

Nothing misleading about it. There are 2WD's that come in TRD OR, and get the exact same "extras" as the 4WD models do, including the rear locker. Only difference in the trucks is one is 4WD, but the TRD add-ons are the same. Same goes for TRD Sport models.

Just left the dealership, my truck is a Tacoma 4x4 SR5..... Not a TRD, I will be taking off the TRD stickers because I am not the type roll around with stickers that are fake. So I will be getting 4x4 stickers

You have point, but when I was shopping for my first Tacoma I found it very misleading until I learned the details of the badge. Some of the vehicle listings were not explicit in differentiating 2WD vs 4WD. they would just say TRD OR model in place of 4WD. Even some used car dealers would list a vehicle as 4WD even though it was only 2WD and seem perplexed when I asked them equations about the drivetrain.
Do they make a 4x4 sticker? I have only seen 4x4 rear wheel mud guards.

My SR5 4x4 doesn't have any 4x4 stickers, and I bought it new. Are there some?

Not that I would want them. Don't like stickers for the most part. My (former) Tundra was a TRD and I didn't like the stickers so I peeled them off. Guy I sold it to ordered a new sticker set as soon as we made a deal.

No offense, just don't get it.
