I know right, i've never been on any automobile enthusiast forum where a member is getting a new gen model, and the previous gen starts to bash them...

So are you saying that everything one reads regarding 3rd gen experience is not credible? I thought that is why people joined the forum, to read about other's experiences with different models, including the 3rd gen, and discuss them. I just bought a 2015 last summer (in the nick of time), so I have no need to go test drive 2016s. Since the OP has had two second gens, it seemed worth discussing the point.
    Agreed.

There's a bunch of posts about complaints, im sure if everyone who likes/loved their truck and made a post about it would far outweigh the complaint posts. It would make this forum a clusterfuck if everyone did that too. Im saying take it with a grain of salt.

Not that any one Cares !!! But I have a 2016 and no issues at 5000+ miles ,Trade up every 3 years so I am waiting for a 2019, I have read on here about issues and I thing that most of them are what happens to a new Gen Truck !! I think that for the most part 2017 will be a far better year for the 3rd gen Tacoma !! Just My 2 Cents.

Jesus, if the guy wants to buy a new truck let him buy a new truck. Not our place to accost him.

The TRD Pro seems sick. I will be jealous of anybody who owns one.

My sarcasm is at an all time high today, pretty sure it's at like 83 and 3/7%. If I could buy a 3rd gen I totally would. My 17 years young opinion should be the most valuable.

My bad, I confused you with another poster who has had two 2nd gens. I am honestly curious about people thinking on these major purchase decisions and what their rationale is. For all I know, the way Toyota's quality has been sliding (I've had a 93, an 01, and now a 2015), maybe 6 years/100k will be all they are good for soon.

My rationale was, my 05 Tacoma had been giving me problems. instead of throwing more money into an 11 year old truck, I decided on getting a new one. I lurked these forums and read all the complaints. A lot of people were complaining about the truck not having enough power, the tranny fluid being low and there were a few real problems. I test drove it and it was sufficiently powered for where I live and what I do, made them check my tranny fluid and it was ok. I love my truck and don't regret it one bit.

While EVERY new vehicle has growing pains in it's initial release (yes this even means Tacomas for you blind fanboys) there are some things like the low fluid transmissions and non greased ujoints that is just shit workmanship. Simple stuff that shouldn't be overlooked but somehow is.

Hopefully Toyota figures out a way so the auto transmission isn't so shifty. Clicking the etc button to not hunt for gears kinda defeats the purpose of it.

Moral of the story is buy a manual transmission.

    1. Yes. Toyota QC is shot. Apparently Honda is also having massive quality issues in their Mexico plant.
    2. Fuck you
    3. Will you help me put an MT in my DCLB? Actually the 2nd gen AT isn't as horrid as I thought it would be, and you need an AT anyway just so you can deal with how fucked up Entune is. Fucking POS.

I read that too about Mexionda. They started making the new Fits there, then a year later they were importing them from the motherland even though there was space for them to be made alongside the hpv.
