Is Toyota finally shipping 16's with proper fluid levels?

Wondering if any of you can let us know the manufacture date of your Tacomas and if Toyota is finally shipping the 2016 with proper AT fluid. Wondering if we can get a gauge as to if and when Toyota corrected the problem.
I tested an auto last week built in April and it felt much more responsive than one I tested back in back in November and much more responsive than my buddy's 16 that he got back back in October when they started to hit dealer lots.

The build date should be marked inside the driver's side door.

    Thanks

They still won't acknowledge that there's even a problem. Any TSB or recall? Not that I've seen. Just remanned transmissions being put in.

Do yourself a favor and get a manual trans or wait til 2020 model until this is fixed or the A760 transmission is used.

I think he is asking for people to post their build date and whether or not they are having trans issues. Perhaps to notice a trend, which I think is actually a really good idea.

I'd be interested in some real input as well... not just people with no knowledge angrily spouting off.

My truck is actually being built today, so I'm curious as to whether I need to have the fluids checked.

My 16 is supposed to be in on Friday so I'll let you know. It's apparently being shipped in from the port in Texas so I would think it would have a fairly recent build date.

My truck was built May 6th in Mexico. Picked it up on Saturday. I specifically told them to check the transmission fluid before I picked up the truck since I've read so much about the problems here. They said the trans fluid was full. I did not watch them check the trans so I am taking them on their word (hopefully that doesn't bite me in the ass later!). I put 300 miles on the truck over the weekend and not once has the truck hunted for gears or shifted all over the place.

About 100 miles of that have been on the highway and no problems there either. I have not used cruse control yet which seems to be where some people have been having shifting issues. But for now the transmission seems to be just fine.

    What's your MPG?
I've seen OR 4x4 have shift issues and bad MPG numbers. I was just curious to see if trucks with shifting issues meant bad MPG. If you have EPA MPG numbers then we can blame the transmissions with low fluid.

My truck was built mid-February and I have not noticed any issues at all with the transmission. AT, AC, Tow Package, 4X4.

So far my MPG has been 16.5 no where near EPA MPG numbers.

My tranny shifts all the damn time and my milage is about 14.7mpg and 16 highway and I am 800 miles into my Tacoma! I am an aggressive driver so I expect slightly lower numbers but my 2002 4Runer was better than this. I wonder if tranny fluid could have this effect?

No tranny shifting issues that I am aware of. I recently towed a 2000+ pound load and it did fine.
My last tank was 20mpg. Mostly highway miles at 65-70mph.
Truck build date says 04/16. I assume that is April 2016 since, it got to the VPC on 4/5 and the dealership on 4/12 and I picked it up on 4/15.
It was at the VPC in Houston for a week before getting to San Antonio. I saw someone post elsewhere that they are checking fluids at the VPC so it is taking longer for trucks to get out of there. I hope that is the case.

My truck was built on April 22nd. MPG has been right at 20. In the craziness of trying to get my truck picked up at closing time on a Saturday night I failed to make sure they checked my ATF for me.

Mine has a build date of Jan 16
Mileage as of today May 16 is 2773
I have not checked fluid levels yet , they will be done at 5000 miles
I have had no issues or problems
When I first got the truck it had all the shift problems that everyone else has had
At 1000 miles it started to get better and as of last week the transmission has smoothed out with no shift problems , i have used ECT some times when entering the highway , just to get a jump on the 18 wheelers
    90 % of the 2773 have been highway miles / driving 65/ 70 mph
As I have said before my last truck was an 2006 F 250 diesel and I do not miss it .
    Love my Sweet Taco

Built 12/15 in Baja. 11.4K miles, great mileage if I don't drive like a chimpanzee. Transmission is smooth once miles accrued and we learned about each other (no kiddin'). I try and ignore idiots playing "my thing is bigger than your thing" in rusted out hulks of bygone trucks; save any evaluations for the ladies where it counts. Truck has more than ample power, you need to learn how and when to use it. Cost me $200.50 to learn this lesson as the cop who gave me the ticket said he liked the truck and it really accelerated on his radar... It is not like any other truck.

My first few days when new were the roughest. It was the equivalent of disconnecting the battery, erratic idle and what not.
After those few days, the PCM started to smooth things out, and I really felt it come into its own @ about 1800 miles on the clock.
You mileage may vary depending on your driving, gas, climate, elevation etc.
If not, I recommend a trip to the stealership to check all fluids, and maybe re-boot the PCM. Or you can try DIY by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 20-30 minutes.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers!
