Not true, a lot of states give you a tax credit based on the trade in value and the new car purchase. I.E. traded 2016 in for $30k, bought new tundra for $35k, taxes would be based on $5k, not $35k.

Biggest factors in gas mileage are your driving habits and traffic patterns. How many times you stop and go or slow down and speed back back up. I reset my monitors a few weeks ago on my f150 ecoboost and my average over the time was 15.0 mpg. Last year at the same time it was 16.5. i just filled up yesterday and decided to do a reset. Not sure if they switched to summer gas already, but I'm guessing so. Didn't pay attention to how far my trip was (maybe 10 miles) on back roads but I babied it and ended up pulling 21.6 mpg. Best I've ever got on a long road trip was about 19.5. that was cruise set doing the speed limit. Normally I drive 10 mph over and would get about 18.5. Same trip

There is so many factors that come into play with your or someone else's MGP that it's pointless to ever compare yours to someone's else's

If I can get 19 mpgs out of my 08 in New England, I wonder how much more I could get if I lived in a flat state such as Florida.

I paid $28,500 for my 2008. To get an equivalent 2016, it would cost about $33,500. $5k price increase after 8 years and into a new generation isn't too bad I suppose.

I have the access cab which is lighter weight. Still pokey but not real slow the 4 door is even heavier weight maybe an issue with the 4 door. Short of power.
Then the tq of this engine feels less than the 4.0

I'm averaging 17.5 over just shy of 16k miles. It's incredibly inconsistent. I've gotten anywhere from 13 to 21 mpg. All the data is on fuelly. Truck is completely stock TRD OR DCSB. I've driven I80 across Iowa multiple times and depending on the day I'll get 14 or 20. Driving the same route with Gas from the same place and driving at the same speed. There are days it likes to hang out in 4th gear and you can kiss gas mileage good bye.

My 2016 SR5 doesn't have your issues. No buzzing and it takes off like a rabbit and I get 18-20 mpg on average.

Very true. I did not think about the states that allow this, which is completely fair and beneficial to the economy... in CA on the other hand, you get screwed every which way you can imagine, which is why I stated how it's a bad financial decision. Be thankful you don't have such a repressive state government where you live.

This reminds of when a friend called up and asked to go out for a beer. While beer drinking he had the bright idea of going car shopping. He drunk, I was driving so I had pop. He decided on an Audi A4, that's when they first came out...years ago. Went to the dealership, bought an Audi A4 without test driving it...6 months later and a pile of money lost he returned it...mostly because of his wife...she liked hyunday's better ...the crappy Santa Fe...:der:

I've owned my 2016 Tacoma since February, 2016. If I had it to do all over again, I would not buy it. Well made? Yes. Dependable? Yes. Comfortable? No, it's way to small. Efficient? No, if I pulled one roller skate behind this truck it wouldn't get 14 mpg. Constantly shifting in and out of gears going up the slightest of inclines with nothing but me in it. Drives me crazy!

Fellow '16 owner here. I bought used knowing a tuning solution was in beta and my truck has continued to improve to enjoyed daily driving! The investment in OVTune's VFTuner is well worth it for the shift improvements. I'd expect it pays for itself in gas savings in a year or two....not to mention it has a better feel power delivery wise.
