i notice that you cut your exhaust after the muffler, did you like the outcome of the exhaust sound? better or the same as the stock side way mounted?. thanks.

 

Actually I haven't noticed any change is sound. I only cut it off for clearance issues when out wheelin.

Great Write up, so how does the poem hood latch function?

 

I'm gonna guess here by what you meant by using "poem"
Ill assume you are asking how the stock latch works. It works exactly the same. Depending on how tight you have the aerocatch latches holding the hood you may have to release the aerocatch latches first then pop your hood from inside the cab. Though currently on mine I can pop the hood...then undo the aerocatch latches.
Not sure if I mentioned this in the original post. But, the reason I did this is because of my core support is cracking and sagging in places and its causing the hood to not align properly which in turns causes a lot a hood vibration out at the edges. These latches completely eliminated that issue. The obvious other choice would have been to get all that shit that is falling apart replaced but i'll keep patching it up till I have no other choices.

I meant OEM. Sorry about that. On my last rig I had some jeep hood clips. they were ehhh alright... wouldn't do that route again. but ever since the death of @TRON_ I want to install some latches/clips to prevent whoops making my hood fly up.

I'll eventually let you know what the outcome is with the Pelfreybilt adapter plate that is needed for front IFS skid to mid skid!

 

Added some USB ports under the AC controls. They fit perfectly, but holy mother of god you have to tear the whole fucking interior apart to get them installed. I wired them directly to my Blue Sea fuse block so they are always powered and at least have a fuse in the system.

Well my truck has had a @nfs257 moment.
Half way to work I stepped on the gas from a stop light heard a big ass bang and then the sound of something spinning metal on metal as I now coasted thru the intersection. Pulled over and got out to take a peek underneath and didn't see any fluid leaking. Was getting ready to call AAA for a tow then in a moment of clarity I thought WTF lets try the locker. Turned it on and it started driving like nothing was wrong with it. Ended up just continuing to drive to work for the day. Drove home later rested up for the night and at 630 am this morning started tearing into it. Pulled both axles only to see some fucked splines on the left axle shaft. Pulled the 3rd member out, ring and pinion look good...but I was not able to tell what happened on the inside. So its was time to give the axle and the 3rd member to the pros at Yotamasters in Corona.
The good news is I finally get to regear my truck with a 4.56 ring and pinion. Bad news is its probably gonna cost me double what it normally costs.

Pretty sure it has something to do with the locker. There was plenty of engagement but there is some other pieces (locker stuff??) deeper inside where the splines sheared off.

First time i've been there and I was pretty impressed with their customer service.

 

Finally got my 3rd back from Yotamasters today. I had them install Yukon 4.56's in it. It was ready on Friday but due to a mix up they installed 5.29 gears into my third. Of course i didn't notice till I got home with it. Had it been 4.88's I probably just would have gone with it but no way were 5.29's gonna work. So I had to drive the 91 in Holiday traffic from Weir Canyon to Serfas Club drive, a total of 8 miles....only took 50 minutes....FUCK ME. Anyways being a friday afternoon I knew there was no way they were going to just knock it our right there for me but I wanted to get it back to them so they could get started on it first thing tuesday after the holiday. Well Yotamasters didn't disappoint...got a call at 1230 to come pick it up. Rolled on out there came home and got started with the install. Started around 2:00 was done and test driving by 6. Took my time plus I changed out the brake shoes, had to bleed the brakes...clean up the garage some.
Test drive went perfect.....no strange noises...no leaks...locker worked...brakes worked. Just have to put 500 easy miles on it to break in the gears then change out the dino oil for some Lucas synthetic and it will all be back to normal again.

Some pics of how the pinion engages on the ring gear. I am assuming that this is correct because this is the reason I had Yotamasters do the work because I am clueless as to how to set up a diff. Sometimes i don't mind paying the experts.
