    being an '89 its likely carbureted, fine for beach and road, not so much for off angle /camber situation and climbing/bouncing. you'll want a '91+ YJ, or go into the TJ's to get fuel injection.
    carburetors can be made to work, but they're a PITA, not to mention, you get laid on your side or upside down, you risk fuel on hot parts

    the plus side, is if it does have a 6cyl, it would be the 258ci engine ( 4.2L ) VS the 4.0 in the newer YJ/TJ ( 242ci ) if you were so inclined, it could be converted to EFI, several different ways ( you would think if it had already been it would be a selling point )
