My radiator was cracked along upper tank so it made my decision really easy.

And yup, with my truck being my only vehicle and my kid who needs to be picked up and dropped off at school daily, there are times where it makes most sense to pay for the work.

I don't know which is a worse way to think. That you should always pay for your work to be done or never pay for your work to be done. It's really not that simple.

I agree. Plus you have to throw in several other factors as well. If I had a daily driver car and a lift in my garage, I would never have paid to have this done.

But I only have my truck and a broken, cold and rain soaked driveway.

Exactly. Money is not the only issue. Obviously no one wants to pay the extra money for labor, but money is not the only factor that matters in the real world. And sometimes it's a bit of a luxury. You know a job is a real pain in the ass and you really don't want to do it, so are glad to pay someone else to do it for you. No headache at all. If I had known what a huge ordeal it would have been to do my fuel pump on my '94 LeBaron, I would have gladly paid someone to do it.

Plus, it's my friend's shop that I've been going to since 1995 and the bonus is the tech who worked on it is a TW member and great guy.

All the more reason! Before I started doing my own work, I always had people I know do it. I'd rather give my money to a friend or family member, if possible, than to some stranger. Once again, more to it than just saving money on repairs.

Haha no it's definitely mine. It was exactly where I heard the noise of it falling off at in my neighborhood that morning. I just didn't connect the sound with what happened till I got to work sadly. I remember seeing it loose when I got home earlier the day before and forgot to push it back in, so it's on me.

My tabs have been rusting for quite a while, the constant removing and installing scratches the paint away on the tabs which leaves it open to rust. Everything on the front is scrapes from it being run over. :( I mean yeah it could be someone elses but since I literally found it the same day in my neighborhood exactly where I heard it fall off is a little too coincidental.

Came across this deal on Craigslist yesterday. Set of factory service manuals for a 2000'. Got a great deal on them, all 3 for $20.

For the most part mechanically they should be the same but anyone know of differences between years 2000' and 1999'? For starters I heard the ecu was changed in 2000?.....TIA :D

I hope you jumped on that before it was gone. I paid around $200 on ebay for those exact books for my 1999.
I'd say that 98% of those manuals should apply to a '99, especially the mechanicals.

Here are some 2000 changes I've accumulated:

    strengthened frame in mid-year
    better, more efficient torque converter
Compact, fine-atomization, 12-hole type fuel injectors (therefore, different fuel rails ?)
    alternator output raised to 80a
    LEV changes to intake, IAC
different air-fuel ratio sensor (to reduce emissions)
Rear axle design change ? (Marlin’s inner seal is for 79-99 models)
    coil-on-plug (for Calif. 3RZ only)

No guarantees on the accuracy of the above, mostly just from what I've read on the internet.

Yep I did, I had previously seen how much these go for on ebay so I jumped on this deal. Thanks for the info . My current list of things to work on- new steering rack, cv's, ball joints and valve cover gaskets.
