Anybody take the trails out by Campo and run east towards Mexicali?

Is it legal or do you get hassled by the BP?

It looks like there are a few roads down there from looking at California trail map. You might need to jump trails a few times.

    I live in Vista.

Nice I have a 2013 KX450f (plated) but sold my CR500 and my ATK 605 Sumos a couple years ago. I need to get a new wheelset for it (KX) so I can put some Michellin Pilots on it and smoke some street bikes, lol.
You also have a dirtbike too right? I ride a lot and have 5 other dirtbikes if you ever want to go get into some fun stuff, I will ride anywhere, the more difficult the better for me but I dont mind just tooling around as well.

I did a day trip at Ocotillo Wells on Saturday and it was hot my buddy's truck said 107, and it felt like it.

I know a couple guys that have them too. Seems most guys now are getting those KTM 500s but they are pricey!

Not in about 20 years..thy keep blocking off all the good stuff complaining about motorcycles, and a developer comes and bulldozes the entire area!!!! Oh the irony....

Is there at least a ramp or a good takeoff so you can get over the entire road? Haha.

I just have the DRZ i don't do anything too crazy, i have to get better as a rider first. If you're ever out in the valley when its not in the triple digits i could show some cool spots.

Never been to Ocotillo wells. Went to glamis once, that was sweet!

I need to hit the dirt a lot more.

I guess I'll try to hit up the border trails when it starts to cool down. Idealy I'd like to do a long dirt/trail run starting in Campo and ending near Lake Henshaw. Just need to get a GPS to mark the right trails and then create a map of it for other's who'd like to make the quest.

I try to hit doghouse a couple times a month for cigars and bourbon. Run into a lot of people up there. Mostly good encounters... Mostly. The border patrol are usually super friendly, but maybe their budget got slashed or something because they don't even bother to slow down anymore, let alone talk to us. The damn county also likes to get in the habit of locking gates to public land out there too so be aware of that crap. Encountered that one time and kept a set of bolt cutters and a spare lock of my own in my truck after that. Problem solved!

Anyway, the point of my story is one night a couple of good ol boys were passing through and stopped to jaw with us for an hour or so. Told us about some long ass trail that runs the border fence that they drive on occasion and is called the "pole road" for all the telephone poles that line it or some shit. I've yet to drive it myself though I've been meaning to for a while. That view up top Otay is just too hard to not stop and make camp for a couple hours though.

Hope that helps get you where you're going.

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to bring a cordless sawzall and grinder out to chop down the gate altogether! Jokes aside maybe you could show me the trails so I could mark them for future reference.

I think the term you were looking for was "pole line" which is commonly used to describe the maintenance route that follows posts with telephone or electrical lines.

Thanks, I'll remember that if I ever come across a combination lock. Otherwise the literal weakest link is getting cut.

Don't cut any locks or chains. Leaving Gates like that open invites people out there that aren't necessarily interested in trailing. Trash dumping is a big problem on our trails. You open the gate, you close the gate.

You really shouldn't do that. My friend owns like 400 acre's down there around Jacumba and it is surrounded by more private property, you're most likely not on state land like you think you are. Get a real map. He hates it when dumb-ass Cali folk think they are on state land and cut his locks.
