    Ok,
So I've had my tacoma for almost 2 years... I don't do a whole lot of off-road driving, besides getting down dirt roads to oil fields, and feed lots. I occasionally shuttle bikes to the top of the mountain on old roads...

    Here is my dilemma...

I put a spacer lift on the front, and add a leaf's on the rear... The truck rides like total a covered wagon. Bump steer, rough ride, lots of noise. I expected that doing the cheap way out. I want to put a decent lift on it that will improve the ride quality. I am so tired of having to hang on to my steering wheel so tightly... Haha! Please help. I've had a ton of opinions, but they're all different. Looking for some real results...

    Thanks!!

My spending limit really doesn't have much of a "limit." I just want to make sure I'm making the right purchase. The fella' over at the local store told me to just go to the Bilstein 5100's, and I should see tremendous ride quality. Anyone have any take on this??

if youre not an avid offroader then 5100's should be ok. should improve ride quality. if you offroad alot and want something that can handle trails better id go for the ome kit from headstrong. if you want a nice kit with a little lift and want to beat on it then go coilovers like king, icon, or fox. a decent coilover set up will cost around 2500. the ome kit i believe is around 1200. bilsteins will be around 500. there are so many options.

    Simple OME/884/AAL lift. 32” WP’s
I just had the OME kit installed with 884s and the 2" AAL and the ride is night and day. Can't comment on off road ability yet, but the truck is way better behaved than with the stock TRD off road setup.

Bilstein 5100 doesn't increase ride quality. They have the same internals as the stock Bilstein but are adjustable for lift.

I really appreciate everyone's input. I'll try and post a thread on what I end up doing. Priced some tires today too, so that might take a little bit of the bump out.

    Cheers!

The stock ride is the best ride. For me the answer was eibach coils up front and the tsb springs out back. Even that minimal lift is stiffer than stock.

I'm thinking about a similar setup, maybe 1.5" AAL or 3 leaf pack. do you have any pics of how it turned out?

So the larger diameter 5100 rides the same as stock? Please educate us all.

I know I will get a lot of crap for this but here it goes anyway...$1200.00 got me this set up, i did the install myself, pretty easy too. Love the lift it gives me and love the ride, having the adjustable shocks is great...

The stock non-TRD suspension will ride the best. It is mushy and plush. It rides like you're on a cloud.

    Everything aftermarket will be stiffer.

Your Eibach coils are almost 20% stiffer than OEM coils were.. lift height and stiffness are totally independent. OME coils would be a softer ride than those Eibach's, but both would be stiffer than stock.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
I did the full OME kit in 2010 and replaced Dec. 2014 with Icon front and back, if I had a choice I'd do the Icon kit to start with and save myself that $800 on OME shocks and coils. The Dakars I'll keep.

That being said, the OME kit is a really well put together system for the money as long as you pair your front coils accordingly. It's good enough that I recommended it to my buddy and we'll be putting it on this weekend
