Well... Here's your photos. A caption with each...

Site #36 from the road. Nice big space. Good job! (Bike not included!)

Your very own bear box. Standard issue. Use it! Rangers will confiscate any food left out. Depending on which division, you just say sorry. Others will fine you!

Side view of #36, and your dining room AKA picnic tables. Nice roomy space, no immediate neighbors.

And probably my fave, the view from the dining room. Yes, that's Half Dome!

Holy shit you're the best! I was hoping for at least a partial Half Dome view, and I've got one! Thanks a ton!

Do you live in Yosemite NP? Jelly for sure. My grandparents live in Oakhurst.

I like camping in Toulome Meadows when in Yosemite, or Lodgepole when in Sequoia.

Just outside and west of Oakhurst. My husband works for NPS and I volunteer for just about everything. I happened to be in Yose today for SAR Short Haul training (helitack off El Cap!)

I never heard of a Beckett hitch, looked it up, I knew it as a sheet bend.

I've always understood a Sheet bend to involve two free/loose rope ends and a Becket hitch to involve one rope and one fixed eye loop, either rigid or flexible.
Could be wrong, though. Been about 15 years since my last Boy Scout meeting, lol

3.4 oz for two straps that I left full length (12 ft, with the short end/ratchet removed, so call it 10 ft).

They're poly and haven't stretched yet.

The only difference I can see is that they're 1" the whole way instead of two different widths...and they were $3.

By the way, if you guys weren't a sailor, in Scouts, or if it's been a while, do yourself a favor and learn the bowline. I get more mileage out of that knot than any other. It absolutely won't slip, but it's easy to undo. It takes up relatively little rope to tie, and does the job every time. I can even tie it one handed, thanks to a one-arm leader we had in our troop. The only downside to a bowline is that it's not adjustable after it's tied.

I hang out with a lot of good 'old boy farmer-types and it's fun to watch them tie 5 redundant overhand knots to, say, tie a paddlefish up to a boat. A couple inches of paracord and 10 seconds and I have full confidence that 65 lb fish isn't going anywhere.

But knot discussion is probably better kept out of the gear thread. It's its own topic for sure.

Nonsense. Knots go with gear like jam on toast.

yea they do. If you don't know your knots you'll end up on the ground with all your gear on the road behind you

For all of you who Backpack, what sort of dehydrated food do you pack?

Do you dehydrate your own or buy the prepackaged sodium bombs....ie Mountain House, Backpackers Pantry, etc?

Both, ish. I'll bring my own dried stuff and also a couple of packs of Mountain House in case I don't have any luck fishing.
