I'm glad I came across this thread. I'm a first time Tacoma owner (08 SR5) and just found out about this a couple of days ago.
When I checked my VIN on the Toyota site it showed me the leaf spring recall. I guess I'll call the dealership and see how to proceed.

I bought mine at the end of April (which may have been when the letters went out for GA). The notice on the Toyota site makes it sound like they won't be replacing the springs on all of them. Or maybe they just want to make sure it is one of the models that the recall applies to.
Toyota will send an owner notification by first class mail advising owners to make an appointment with their authorized Toyota dealer to have the leaf springs inspected, and if necessary, replaced at NO CHARGE.

How long did it take for your springs to arrive? I'm going on three weeks since they "inspected" it and allegedly ordered them.

I never had the truck inspected. My neighbor happens to be the District Service and Parts manager for the Cincinnati area Toyota dealerships and I've been bugging him about this recall since I received the first letter over a year and a half ago. Based on our text message string, it looks like he was able to place the order for the new springs the week of April 21st. I was notified by the dealership last Wednesday that the springs had arrived so it appears that it took roughly three weeks for the parts to arrive.

I wonder if the install kid and ubolts that come with the new kit work for an AAL ? Did you have to bring longer u-bolts as well?

Had mine inspected about a week ago guy at the dealer said springs in SoCal are backordered and it could be 1-2 months before they arrive:/

For those who have got the new recall springs, did you gain any lift? Mine are on order and I am wondering if I'll need to go to a 1.5" aal instead of the 2" I have now...

Just got my "Remedy" letter a year late cause when I got the truck, one of the leafs had already broken and whoever owned the truck replaced it with a deavers leaf. Now I have to send a letter and a receipt to Toyota to get reimbursed for the highjackers leaf pack. Has anyone gotten reimbursed yet?

My letter said to bring it in and it will be determind if i qualify (or something like that) has anyone been turned down? I assumed since there were 690,000 trucks recalled for this, ans thats about the same number of 4x4 and prerunner sales during those years, everyone qualified

Hey guys, I'm new to the site. Just bought a 2005 Taco. I ran my vin through the website and it had a recall. Took it in today to have them inspect it for the recall and I am getting new leaf springs in a couple weeks when the parts come in. The rear end of my vehicle was squeaking pretty loud when I would push downward on the bumper and I ran my vin through the data base and came up for the recall. We'll see how the new leaf springs are.

I really can't imagine anyone getting turned down for this. Other than showing up with aftermarket springs. Even the TSB springs don't have the extra clips added on. So I don't know how they ever could.

Service guy said to me they would inspect it and determine if they needed replacing, I said "no" the letter in my hand says Toyota is replacing them! It's not up to you. But also said it nicely, and didn't get all shitty. He call a hour later and said they would be replaced.

Had it done yesterday. Completely painless. The only problem is it took them all day to complete the task. I got the 3+1's. Thy feel stiffer and raise the bed of the truck slightly.
