    I don't know that I'd be 1/3 clutching on a stock clutch. Sounds like a good way to burn your clutch up. If you just learn your clutch points and don't pound on it all the time, It will probably preserve your clutch. Trust me. Supercharged racing around like a teenager got me 6k miles on my clutch before I couldn't do more than 1/4 throttle and I was slipping.

    Must have been or he had it fabricated. They have never offered a DCLB + manual. You won't find that option in any gen 2 Tacoma brochure or anything else.

    I tend to go to the wall with the clutch. Yes the sweet spot feels nice and makes it shift good, but that is where you need to stay the least amount of time.

    If you mess up a manual it tends to be drivers fault, but we are pros that's why we do not get the hill hold and autos do...those poor people don't know a thing about driving.

    I burnt through my clutch in about 6 months, however, reasons:

    1st car as a manual (owned motorcycles for years) tool a while to get used to shift points and ended up slipping the clutch ALOT

    Supercharger (stock clutch just cant handle supercharged power, if you use it ;) )

    Proving my manhood to fullsize trucks and winning every time. Zing!

    Called my buddy Steve yesterday about this. He did in fact have the manual swapped into the truck after a collision that broke auto transmission housing. Hydroplaned off the road onto a concrete culvert no body damage but auto trans and t-case were shattered. That explains that one any way... I stand corrected.

    I kicked this around for a hot minute but decided I didnt want more clutter on the dash for now. Regearing with dual lockers will probably be fine for me with LT. If I ever decide I wanna start crazy rock crawling then Ill look into a manual TC and dual cases and all that

    Wow thats still alot of work instead of just extending the frame and getting a new bed lol. Would rather do that than redo all the eletronics and have to set up a clutch pedal and all that

    Totaled donor truck and swapped the
    parts is what Steve told me. Shop that did the work just happened to have the totaled truck and did it for the insurance check.

    Wonder if there was fabrication required to remove the parking brake and install the clutch pedal

    Better yet, install a motorcycle clutch level on the gear shifter. Bam, problem solved.

    Yeah but with the parking brake already right there, are the bolt holes and tabs for the clutch to be installed already there, or did they have to add them

    It's funny you guys talk about rev hang and such, shifting problems. I've only really had manuals since I got married. The wifey insis's on them. I shift the Taco way smother than her and she shifts the mustang way better than me.

    ^ I think a new MT Taco would sell quickly here in MN, because there are just aren't any sitting at dealerships. But I've seen the same AT trucks at a few dealership lots and websites for a month or so now.

    MN is probably not a good place to judge how well Tacos sell though because there are more big 3 trucks (Ford, Dodge and Chevy+GMC) on the road, whereas in other states Tacos may be more sought after.

    The Tacomas here in Athens Ga tend to be auto 2wd. I had to special order mine because of color trans combo and still proud of it.

    2016 Silver Tacoma TRD OR Manual
    I just bought a 2016 Silver TRD offroad yesterday with the manual. Test drove the automatic, and in my opinion, it just felt sluggish to up and downshift. I've always had a manual in the past so I asked to be put on the waiting list to call me when a manual arrives. Four months later I get a call, the only manual in all of SC. I drove an hour to get to the dealer, test drove the truck and fell in love. Much more in control of my RPMs. Right off the bat, I noticed the clutch is extremely easy to push in compared to my Scion TC. I'm guessing this is normal?
