I would think they would help you out with a loaner at least at a discounted rate. I was kind in your same boat only I sold mine a week before my truck was due to come in. It sounds like you just got a little too anxious and sold your car. Not their fault.

I doubt the OP can afford to start at week 0 again with likely another 14+ weeks wait.

    Sure.

But the dealer played no role in his decision to sell a car before he had a replacement. So, it's his call and his risk.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, it sure does and I'd be pissed, but none of that means the dealer owes him money. I'd take my money elsewhere, period.

Another guy posted on TW that the dealership told him it would be 6 weeks for his truck, and 6 weeks had passed and nothing was delivered.

He asked what the daily few should be for his trouble, and was going to demand the dealer take $XXX off the price of his truck for each day over 6 weeks.

Not how it works, all things are approximate when it comes to waiting periods and are influenced by dozens of variables. If you stack the cards against yourself you can't blame anybody but you.

I wasn't suggesting an order. Buy something close off the lot somewhere and move on.

Totally agree. It's a sucky life lesson. Never managed to paint myself in that corner. I always traded in until I had a family and more than one vehicle. Never again unless the deal is spectacular.

This appears to be someone else's mistake, but you let it happen. You should have covered your ass in the first place.

Never rely on someone else to carry you through.

    Period.

    He got the shaft. :D

Yea, I forgot about that. Manual unicorns are scarce in these parts. That does present a problem.

OP, now that you have learned a little lesson, maybe you can get some help here. You said you want a TRD OR with manual trans. What else are you looking for? Color, options, etc. Also what is your location? If we all pull together here maybe we can find one that your dealer could get transferred, or you may have to fly to another dealer and drive back. I am willing to help you on this search, anyone else in?

I think he got tired of all the hate. I was gonna tell him to hit up dean from Toyota west Ohio if he's in the Midwest. I have a contact in Oregon that can get stuff done as well.

    Hate?

It's adults talking about life lessons, nobody called him an asshole and said to die. That's hate.

This is discussion. Turn the sensitivity down a little.

I put mine up for sale a week before my truck was due in while it was in transit. I didn't expect it to sell for asking price the day after I listed it. Can't say why the op listed his so far out from his so called delivery date.

    You can always ask.

    Maybe best option.

Sounds like a dick head answer. Also sounds correct.

maybe i'm the minority here, but I don't really see how the dealership can be accountable to give you anything. I'm sorry, not trying to be mean or rub salt into the wound, but I just don't see the logic.

If you make dinner reservations at a restaurant for 7pm, and your table doesn't end up being ready til 9pm. Do you expect the restaurant to pay for your meal since you came hungry?

My logic says, i'll just go eat somewhere else.

Sorry OP, it sucks, but it happens.

I wanted a Colorado and was told they would have tons in stock by Jan 2015. I was told "we will have rows of these like we do with the silverados." Well, they didn't. By March 2015 I was told a 4 month wait for the Colorado I wanted (quad cab, long bed, Z71). It was a big reason I bought the Tacoma...I could walk onto the lot and get exactly what I wanted.

The moral of the story: the waiting game is never exact, the dealership doesn't owe your anything.

Sorry you jumped the gun on selling your car. Unless it had major issues, you can usually sell a car within a week. Every time I have sold a car to buy another, my old one was sold within 3 days. I don't think you needed to give yourself weeks for a head start. It would have been wise to set up a sale of your old car with a buyer who was willing to take delivery when your truck arrived.

It doesn't hurt, however, to try for a bit of savings. Might as well pitch the idea of 2k off for your troubles. Worst case scenario: they shut you down like you're late on the cable bill. Best case: they take the offer. I wouldn't be surprised if they settle somewhere in between.
