Get the 10K not the 8K - same winch, just different gearing (and line speed.)

I winched my buddy's Dodge 3500 welding rig in the early spring, no problem. Obviously had to anchor my truck but the bumper was fine.

Zeon was worth it to me (have the M8000 on another rig) for the fact that it is fully submersible and has a faster line speed... Also the synthetic line is a big plus in my books

Agreed! Plus there may come a time when you wish you had more winch power, but you'll never wish you had less

Yea I like the fully submersible thing. I'd be getting synthetic rope either was the Zeon or the M8000-s

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Superwinch tiger shark 9.5 with a synthetic line. It was recommended to me by several other local members. Love it so far. And I think they still have a $50 coupon on Amazon. So you can probably get it for around $425 all said and done.

    Thanks @Socalduckslayer
You saved my front end a lot of heartache after I came down hard on a rock at Jambo last weekend.

In other news. I earned my "pigs fly" badge after getting all four tires off the ground before I came down on said rock.

    :anonymous:

I did have a few people stop me and ask about your bumper and just wanted to see one in person before they bought one. :)

I'm talking about using snatch blocks to get more pulling force. A straight pull will be limited by the winch (8000lbs) barring a crazy circumstance. You might have only used 4000lbs to pull the Dodge out.

If you run a snatch block off one of the shackle points on the bumper and a snatch block off of the anchor (3:1 system) you can triple the pulling force of the winch minus the mechanical loss due to friction, etc.

I really don't think aluminum can handle that much force: 8,000lbs at the winch mounting point and 16,000lbs where the snatch block attaches = 24,000lbs total.

I agree. A bigger winch isn't the only way to get more, but your equipment - winch, rope, snatch blocks, recovery straps, bumper, etc. - need to be able to handle the load.

I don't see anything wrong with the skid. You talking about that small scratch? :notsure: Must have been a short flight. :p

@RearViewMirror how do you like that frontrunner rack? Is it noisy at all?

Surprisingly no noise at all. I suppose it's the way they designed the fairings underneath that keep the noise down. That was one thing that worried me when I bought it since it looks boxy (for lack of a better word). But honestly, unless you have something on the rack it doesn't make a sound.

One thing I really like about the FrontRunner rack is you can attach anything to it. And I mean anything.

I put my GoPro 3axis Gimbal on it the other day just to see what the video would look like. The camera is independant of the movement of the truck so the camera is stable all the time.

    That's good to know! Thanks!

And that gopro footage is ridiculously smooth... Must be a pretty fancy gimbal!

Yeah, I've got 5 GoPro cameras with mounts all over my truck.

The video of my truck was shot with a slider and a Nikon D7100. Add my Drone to the mix and I've probably got over $12k just in video equipment

Hey Satin! Do you guys still have the rear view camera mount relocation bracket available? I could not find it on the site or perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough.

I don't do anything interesting enough to justify a bunch of equipment lol... Though I did put a sticky mount for my gopro on my windshield, and I have a Fat Gecko suction cup mount... Need to get another gopro and I've been watching Kijiji hoping to find someone selling one cheap

When the 5's come out I'll probably sell mine. The 4's weren't enough of a upgrade.
