It seems I've been chasing my tail trying to find a new(er) camper. So many of the ones I've seen have been neglected, water damaged, ripped canvas or worse. It seems like people just don't take care of their stuff anymore. I'm looking at a newer one tomorrow night, hopefully this one pans out. It seems well taken care of and comes with the whole equalizer hitch setup which is nice. The trailer is light so I don't 'need' a W/D hitch, but I'm sure this, with the built in sway control, would be a welcomed upgrade.

No not bad at all especially if it works.
I was up under the truck over the weekend just to look around and saw that the surface rust is becoming more prevalent now. Not a ton of the scale, which is good I guess. It says to wire wheel the scale but paint over the surface rust...not sure why. You'd think that knocking the surface rust off would be beneficial too. :notsure:

Would think because it couldn't get under the scale properly unless it is gone and it just will kill the exposed surface rust where ever it was. I am sure it wouldn't hurt to flap it all. Most likely just a time saver.

Disposable society. Why take care of it and when you'll just be buying a new one in a couple of years?

Plus people are lazy, so maintenance doesn't appeal.

I guess you're right... but then they look at you like you have 3 heads when you tell them their trailer isn't worth what they are asking. The guy I met last weekend seemed genuinely shocked when I told him I wouldn't buy his camper. He tried negotiating and dropping his price but I told him is camper had too many issues for me to even consider and I wouldn't take it. I think part of the problem is people just don't know how to properly care for a camper. They buy these ultralights because it can be towed with their Rav 4 or minivan but don't consider what it takes to keep it in good working order.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
If I buy a new camper I'm going to treat it with fluid film or Eastwoods anti rust

A lot of the ones I'm looking at are aluminum framed. Very light, rust has not been an issue on any of them, it's been mostly soft spots in the floor or ceiling (water damage).

What do you MEAN I have to seal the roof to keep it from leaking?!
I'm actually looking at vintage campers and it's amazing what people want for a unit that needs to be completely gutted because it's been sitting behind their shed for 30 years.

This one looks promising, seems like it was dealer maintained but we'll see tomorrow I suppose...

I fluid filmed my FJ while it was indisposed this winter and most of it's still in place. I also sprayed down my shocks and would they look all grimy its just the FF covering them. Seems to be doing its job for the time being. I'll probably spray the wife's t4r down with it this summer and re-do mine before the winter
