VLED headlights?

hey guys.. anybody have any experience with these?

I am looking for something a little nicer than stock, and quite honestly, I don't know much about lighting, or whats involved with even changing them.. but it would be nice to do a little upgrade to the lighting on my 2012! Without breaking the bank on some crazy $500-$1000+ HID's?

BTW, I am open to any and all suggestions! thanks guys!

 

I am running those LMZ Platinum's in my high beams on my 2016 and love them so they would be great as lows I think!!!

 

hrm, I didn't know you can select if they are lows or highs...

I wasn't kidding when I said I know absolutely NOTHING about aftermarket lights, haha

I'm running Vleds everything in my truck. I purchased those LMZ's for my high beams, I'm running their V3 Triton Switchbacks in my turn signals and I'm also running 4 V3 Triton's as brake lights. Decked my whole 2016 out with VLED Led's!!! are the headlights easy to install? do they just plug right in ? (as in the ballast box I assume plugs right into the stock harness)?

 

Correct, just plug and play, and they go straight into the oem harness!

one more dumb question..

as you stated earlier regarding the high and lows... are there two different plugs or two different bulbs that differentiate them? if I had a decent headlight, I would think I wouldn't need highs, which I rarely use anyways.. im just asking because you mentioned it hehe #mindfu*ked

 

OP, Don't buy the highbeam bulbs for your truck lol. The 2016 has seperate bulbs for high/low, where your 2012 uses the same bulb

 

Ya man you only need one bulb that acts as a high and low, I have 2 separate bulbs in my 2016!!!!

 

well that makes sense than, because I never remember seeing multiple bulbs in mine.. LOL

 

The bulb you linked is the right bulb for your 2012. =) I have never used leds for headlights so i can't give my opinion on them though.

Sorry but I can't help myself, I have to say save money and buy a good set of retrofits.

$1,000 may seem like a lot. But there are tons of threads on here of people saying they've tried this, tried that, bought these aftermarket headlights that leak, etc...you could add up all that over a few years of trying to find a good aftermarket lighting setup and be down several hundred and still have poor lighting.

Also, I have noticed people have huge issue with price of quality retros but don't flinch at dropping $400 on a grill insert that literally is made of 47 cents of plastic. And the grill provides zero function beyond aesthetics.

I wouldn't do it. LEDs in reflector housings are too bright. You will blind oncoming traffic, even in low beam. LEDs belong projector housings. Not hating on LEDs I have interior (great), liscense plate (OK), and reverse (suck) LED lights. I also have a 20" LED light bar. Retro fitting LEDs in reflector housings just not the best idea.

 

I have to replace melted connectors from those high output nighthawks and similar brands all the time at work. Don't recommend at all. Plus ive never personally seen a difference with them
