I know I have commented negatively here before regarding this issue.

But.. I just experienced this, and YES, it will annoy me too. So those of you with this issue, I apologize for my past comments about picky owners. This definitely does not feel normal and is very obvious.

I was at my local dealer today killing some time and test drove a DC long bed Sport 4x4. Right about 2K RPMs, you get an annoying buzzing and you can feel it on the floorboard and steering wheel. I drove my truck immediately afterwards and it was 100X smoother in the 2K RPM range.

So there you have it - I was wrong to chastise some of the folks here.

I hope Toyota acknowledges this and releases a fix. If I was buying a Tacoma and test drove the truck that I did w/o ever reading about the vibration issue, I would have immediately thought there was something wrong with the truck - it's that bad.

And you currently own a '16 Tacoma that does not have this buzzing at all?

    Thanks for the honesty,

Now if only the customer service reps personal vehicles did this..then we would get somewhere..

No, my truck does not exhibit this issue. I drove them back to back. The new one on the lot had a very distinctive buzz starting at 1900 to about 2300 RPM. The motor sounded different and you can feel a high frequency buzzing sensation both on the accelerator pedal and steering wheel. From what I remembered, it didn't matter what gear it was in. I drove the truck both on local streets and the freeway.

I think it's completely plausible that different trucks could exhibit different behaviors.

The first '16 I drove was a SR5 DCSB. I put about 5 miles on it. It was great - nice and smooth - pretty much what you'd expect from a test drive. I largely based my final purchase decision on that drive. The day I put down my deposit, my wife wanted a test drive as well before committing to $37k. The only '16 they had in stock was a extended cab TRD sport. I drove that for less than 1000 feet before my wife took over. The TRD sport had gravely exhaust note and felt a little touchy off idle, kind of like my TRD OR. I had caulked it up to different cab configuration and that it hadn't warmed up. Was I wrong.

Which makes me wonder, do all the V6 DCSB and extended cab trucks have the same exhaust hardware. I still haven't found an on-line Toyota dealer with an on-line parts search for the '16 to check configurations and part numbers.

I'm sure they do. Have any DCLB owners reported having the buzz?

I feel that we are getting somewhere. Even if Toyota is no help. Let's keep this dialogue going and see if we can pinpoint the problem and find a fix.

Look at the needle bearing issue. It is a known problem with a TSB that does not fix it, but a private company ECBS found a fix and that fix is readily available. If we all keep after trouble shooting this TW will find the fix and we can all love our trucks. This is the only issue with mine that truly bothers me, overall I love the truck.

Have 250 miles on my 16 and no issue yet. I am going on a 180 mile road trip this weekend. Hopefully all is well. Will report back.

Has anyone considered the engine mounts might be the problem?

Yup, but no one has swapped them out yet to see if it fixes the buzz.

Rather than mess with weights or dampers which could be luck of the draw if they work (I've done a lot of thinking over it these past few days. Also, guess and check is the most tedious way to solve something) I've decided the easiest way to confirm or deny the rear portion of the exhaust is to purchase the magnaflow 19291 system. This is the same system the previous member said lowered his vibration significantly.

Now, before I spend 600 or something on this, has ANYBODY else replaced their exhaust and noticed their buzzing stayed the same?

Otherwise I guess I'll be the guinea pig.

Does that one come with a new y-pipe?

No, it is just the rear portion after the y pipe. The rear furthest 2 bolts on the exhaust are what you disconnect to install it. It's just 2 new pipes and a muffler. The stock one has the two pipes welded to the muffler though if you are looking at it.

Here's the response from the Parts Manager that I know:

"there are differences in the exhaust depending on whether it is a double cab or extended cab. It's weird though, because the right pipe off of the right side manifold and the Y pipe are the same regardless. The only difference is the left side pipe off of the left manifold, and the tail pipe. Those two parts of the exhaust are different depending on the cab."

So, are there access cab owners with this problem in a significant way? Mine has this buzz but its very slight and nearly a non-issue. I also don't spend much time in that rev range.
