Just the Lee Little stopper (6 stop ND Filter) for those shots. Those two shots were right around 15 seconds. I tried a few longer exposures but I think the 15 was just about right

They turned out great! I haven't done many long exposure daytime shots and need to pick up a filter. I personally love long exposure like your photos since it adds a sense of movement to the scene. Well done

From the middle of my street. From my location I usually can only see maybe a couple of stars in the sky since there is so much light pollution in my area. Problem solved even with a full moon :)

Ok guys I started this hobby last weekend and I'm looking for input. Anything you can think of to help me improve this skill.
I'm using a canon rebel 5 and Lightroom.

Good pictures so far. I use a Nikon DSLR though most of the functions should be similar. I also use LightRoom 6. My suggestion is to watch some tutorials on youtube to learn all the features of LightRoom. Take all your pictures (if you want to "develop" them) in Pure RAW. They take up much more space on your card (or cards in my case since my camera has 2 card slots). But you can develop to your hearts content since ALL of the information is there.

My "personal" option is to always shoot in manual mode so I can have complete control over the camera. I "might" use autofocus to get a general focus point but switch to manual to fine tune my focus. Manually control ISO, F stop, and if shooting HDR bracketing.

LR is such a powerful tool that you can actually go back in and change those setting independent of what your camera was set at. I'm a huge advocate of LR (even though I hate the subscription base model they went too).

*EDIT* The pictures you posted "to me" are a little dark for my taste. But that is subjective. If you like them that is all that matters. If those were mine I would lighten them up slightly and maybe make the sky slightly more to the blue side. Either way.... good pictures.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback and welcome more. I'd like to get better at this since I live in such a beautiful part of the country. Maybe I can make it more than a hobby some day. Any tips for that also?

I don't do it professionally. I "personally" think any hobby you turn into trying to make money with is no longer a hobby and at some point in time becomes just a job. Yes you may still enjoy it but I take pictures of things that "I" find interesting (or at least make them interesting). I don't want to take pictures / film footage because someone else wants me too. As of right now (with the drone) I've probably got around $12k invested in equipment and I'm not even done. But so what? I enjoy it and you only live one time. Life is short. I find pleasure sitting behind the camera while it takes 500 shots for a timelapse film. Just being out in nature and letting it do its thing.

Yes you do live in a beautiful part of the country. I wish my scenery was that nice around here but I can make due. Learn LR and all it has to offer. Learn your camera and all it's capable of doing. You will be producing pictures that are out of this world when you do. My only advice is please don't shot in "auto" mode. You have a camera that is capable of doing amazing things and all auto mode does is turn your great camera into a iPhone point and shoot with a zoom function.

Took this during a full moon. Like I said earlier I can really only make out a few stars from my location due to living in the city and all the light pollution. The camera doesn't seem to have a problem though :)

This was a random quick 5 min edit while I was waiting on my daughter go get ready for school. It was still pretty dark outside but I could probably pull some of the darkness from the trees in front. I was mainly going for the clouds. In reality I could spend a hour or so getting it just like I want but it's okay for a 5 min edit

I like that last one. Did you use an adjustment brush over the mid section of the trees?

I actually used the gradient tool to blend in and adjust the exposure (and a few other settings) independent from the sky. Could still use a little work but I'm stretched for time this morning. I need to lighten up the sky a bit. It was pretty damn dark out this morning. Picture was taken around 5:30am

Very nice! Those are some neat clouds! Need a day like that when you have time to go out exploring and find some landscapes to throw in with that sky.
