    Lots.
Isn't it?! I've been looking for a high res. I'm not flying in that photo, but I fly supers. This photo was also taken at an NAS Oceana airshow and VFA-106 is the only squadron with a demo team at Oceana so while the tail number isn't visible, it's quite possible I've flown that exact jet.

Dood, your spotting skillz...voted most likely to kill friendlies.

B-17 was my favorite as a kid, built a 1/48th scale model, and got to crawl around in one when I was 12 at Reno.

I'll pay for a ride in one eventually. Often one comes to Mather in CA to the California Capital air show, to which I have still never been, after my Reno crew burnout.

But the Blue Angels are coming this year. Maybe this needs to be Bennett's first airshow at 1 year 2 mos old. :)

The Aluminum Overcast usually comes to Livermore every May, but you're right, it's going to Mather this year.

But, what's this?! The Nine-O-Nine (http://www.collingsfoundation.org/aircrafts/boeing-b-17g-flying-fortress/) is coming to Moffett Field and Livermore this month!

Great thread. I've only made it to page 20 but I plan to go through the rest when I'm recovering from surgery next week.

I've been wanting to get my pilot license for several years and will finally be doing my intro flight in June or July.

Welcome! There are a lot intelligent people in here that can answer questions from several fields within the aviation community so don't hold back.

Good luck with your surgery. :fingerscrossed:

    Thanks.

My biggest concern is the medical clearance. What exactly does it entail for a private license and is it different from the requirements for a commercial license? I have some lingering medical issues following a cancer diagnosis/treatment and I want to make sure those aren't going to prevent me from getting my license after dumping a bunch of money into it.

I'm 37 and have no intention of making a career out of this but I might look into instructing to build hours (and I enjoy teaching).

Each case will be different but I have one friend who fought Leukemia and won, and he was able to get a medical and his private certificate. Fortunately you can go to an Aviation Medical Examiner before you even start training and see if there are any issues or concerns that could delay the processing. You can check with some local flight schools for suggestions on doctors you can see.

Very sad to have these folks lose life over shitty maintenance if that's the case or even a bomb from lack security at one of the many stops this plane made....

Both issues are preventable ... but profit is still the #1 priority

Mx and security cost more money every year

Seems to me that nobody cares about the cost of searching for the aircraft after contact is lost
