Tried searching but couldn't find much. I just picked up the bachelor (new shasta standard) and the annex is crazy hard to put on. It took 3 people 20 minutes to get on. It seems the cause is the material just keeps snagging. It's already ripping and I'm wondering if I should just remove it completely.

 

I would contact CVT about that before doing anything... I assume it was a standard and not a summit? Weird that its snagging... I haven't heard any of that before@MTgirl any input?

I haven't gotten a set of these because I am unable to get a socket and ratchet to fit between the bolts and the roof of my truck. Anybody have workaround suggestions?

 

Where'd u get those?? I needs me some. Do u have a link or could u point me in the right direction?

The first gen roof is plenty strong as long as you keep the mounting points toward the outer edges of the roof as much as possible. I would look for a rack that does that. A Thule or Yakima load bar setup that attaches to the lip for the door weather stripping with feet at the edges of the roof would also work well to handle a tent. The 200lb rating you are seeing is pretty typical of a lot of racks. Those ratings are for dynamic loads (while vehicle is moving), but the actual static load capacity (when vehicle is parked) is generally quite a bit higher than that. Tepui recommends a rack with a rating of 150lb or more, so you should be good with some of the options you're finding.

 

Thanks dude! Do you know which of these works with the bolts for Tepui? They said 13mm, but I don't see that there.

Guys, I just added my softopper and RTT onto my auto insurance policy for less than $2 per month. I think that's a great investment for the peace of mind I will now have when it's on the truck!

 

That's a great idea. I'm going to talk to my agent/gf about this and see if she can add it to my policy.

Geico. I just called and asked about insuring my 'accessories'.

 

I just talked to my gf and she said my RTT is covered under my renters insurance and the canopy is covered on my auto. Only issue is if it's a total loss then the insurance will only give me what a stock 07 Tacoma costs.

 

My RTT fairing project is coming along... it'll eventually all be sandblasted and powdercoated black. Took a bit of inspiration from Homertaco.

 

I used the same trim-lock brand edge trim around the outside that Zach from prinsu uses to keep the look uniform and clean.

 

Looking to upgrade from a Tepui Ayer to a bigger RTT. If anyone is looking to sell a Tepui Kukenam or similar sized CVT let me know! Thanks
