I have 2 fans on it, plus the rear case fan is about 4 inches away from it.

My mini ITX rig is going to have the Thermaltake Performer 3 cooling my new i5 6600K. With a R9 390 in that small of a case my temps could get high. Luckily the case basically turns the MB sideways which allows the R9 390 to breath ambient air. I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm only going with a 550 watt power supply, but with only an SSD and no optical drives plus the fact that the PSU is a top end Gold 80 unit I won't have any issues. I'd be willing to bet that a top end 1000w PSU with a Gold 80 or above AND SSD's over HDD's would be able to carry two R9 390x's... barely but doable.

Oh hell. I am so in!!!
I might have to upgrade my ps.
I just have to take some measurements and make sure they are no longer or wider than my 770's

    Waiting on the EVGA model.

Will it even hold 2 390's?

I went with the R9 390 for now rather than waiting for the GTX 1080. Realistically it's the first gen for Pascal so waiting a year or two while biding time with the R9 390 is probably a good plan from my point over view.

For you though, yeah the GTX 1080 will walk all over those 770's. They don't take much power at all either.

Nah just one. I only game at 1080 so there is no need for a Crossfire setup.

I love my 2660x1440 Qnix QX2710. I could never go back to 1080.

After spending $1600 so I could build a box that is smaller than a bread box that can handle any game at 1080 p with room to grow I'm to broke for 1440... let alone 4K.

Really the GTX 1080 is built for the new 4K stuff. Like I said, I'll wait to see what AMD answers with and make an upgrade in a year or two. Do the card and monitor at the same time.

    And done!

Talk about almost having a shit fit though. After loading my OS and drivers I decided to run Prime. BAM. Dead computer. Everything resets. I'm thinking "great, now I have to figure out WTF is wrong but hey at least it starts so I didn't fry my i5!"

I adjust the OC. I downclock. Nothing. I downclock the ram. Nothing. Now I'm shitting because the machine even fails when I just play around online looking for answers.

Finally I do what I never do unless absolutely necessary. I flash the BIOS. Problem fixed... Turns out a lot of Skylake boards have tons of issues if they are running the early BIOS because it was pretty poorly written by some companies. Anyways, now shit is working. 30 minutes prime95 and my water cooler has things sitting at 55 c in a 21 c room. I can live with that, especially after watching it crash a few times lol.

    Knocked that out pretty quick!.
I'm interested in seeing some pictures for size comparison if you get a chance.
I was looking at a lan box yesterday and it was a little bigger than I saw online.
I believe it was an all aluminum lian lee.

On a side note. I had an issue similar to yours after overclocking.
System went dead. After going thru my ram config, it was showing up as a dead slot. The ram worked when I switched it to a different slot.
After running a few on board diagnostics, it somehow fixed itself. I was very relieved.

I ended up having to trade up to a bigger case. Quite simply no one is making cards small enough to fit into some of the mid range cases for ITX boards. The only case I could find that easily fit a R9 390 left me with a case about the size of a best buy special (mid tower ATX) but with a beyond full sized graphics card tucked inside.

Honestly, the biggest difference? I had trouble lifting my old case with a standard ATX setup and single GTX 680 in it out of the old spot I have under my desk. With PSU, MB, and all the other shit in there it's easily 30 pounds. My new ITX build is less than half that.

Yes, I'm almost certain it was a XMP problem. They are really universal among the first skylake boards.
