How serious are you planning on wheeling it?

For about 3/3.5k, you could get a full Old Man Emu kit and new UCAs installed, and a set of new wheels and tires.

URD Catback Exhaust, URD 2.825" Super Grip Pulley, URD Spec-U Equal Length Headers, URD 255lph Fuel Pump, OEM FPR Mod.
That is a proper budget. You can get a full fox or icon lift, full leaf pack replacement and tires and wheels for around that.

Yes, not too sure of the measurements on a 17in wheel but for us 16in guys, 255/75r16 is the tall skinny and 285/75r16 is the fatter, more common 33in tire dimension. 255s will fit on stock wheels and will be less likely to rub without doing the chop, it's also arguable a better tire, depending on the terrain around you.

For about $2500 you can do Bilstein 6112s in the front, ome dakar leafs in the rear matched with bilstein 5160s and a flip kit bump stop combo. That is with a aftermarket uca's as well. Then you can run 33's all day long.

Since It's my daily driver and I don't have much experience probably nothing crazy, but I'm thinking I want to go a suspension vs a DB lift anyway.

Good call on that one. Since you're really not going to be doing anything too crazy, I would just stand by my original suggestion. Sure, you could get Fox or Icon but that's not necessary. Then you can use all the extra money for other cool things.

If I end up getting new wheels, it'd probably be best to get 16 vs 17s that I currently have, right?

Do you know of any build pages on here I could use as a guide / comparison?

Not necessarily. For serious off roaders, it might be better to have that extra inch of sidewall, but it won't make a difference for you. I do think that there are more options for a 16" off road tire though.

You might not like this answer, but do your own research. Spend about a week reading through threads and gathering up some info. I spent months reading about lifts before I could afford one and as soon as I could, I knew exactly what I wanted. Couldn't be happier.
